Sure, we can hope. But what if, and this might shock you, but what if they sort of agreed to use their power and influence to mutually benefit themselves by having Musk use his propaganda platform to promote Trump while Trump gets some lackeys to come up with ways of hamstringing companies and countries he disagrees with using targeted regulations and tariffs while making sure that they don't affect Musk's companies such as Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter. Then they can also use their wealth and bully pulpit to keep the GOP in line or get them primaried to make sure that Congress does as they say. Then what do they have to worry about? The Supreme Court? LOL! Of course not. The Supreme Court is mostly in their pocket and if they do rule against Trump or grumble that Musk is behaving in some way outside the Constitution, then what are they going to do? How are they going to enforce anything? Vance has already gone on record saying that he thinks Trump SHOULD replace the civil servants that aren't loyal to him with his own lackeys and that if the Supreme Court objects to just ignore it.

When has a trivial thing like facts mattered to the GOP ?

If NPR receives no public funding then Musk can simply announce that public funding for NPR has ceased - job done. The job of DOGE is not to save money but to take potshots at programmes and initiatives that the GOP doesn't like.

Through soft and pathetically weak Trade agreements, the American Economy has delivered growth and prosperity to the World, while taxing ourselves. It is time for that to change. I am today announcing that I will create the EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE to collect our Tariffs, Duties, and all Revenue that come from Foreign sources. We will begin charging those that make money off of us with Trade, and they will start paying, FINALLY, their fair share. January 20, 2025, will be the birth date of the External Revenue Service.

I think Trump wants Hegseth to run the millitary so that the army can go door to door, to factories and fields, and demand "where are ze papers?" and then truck them all to Mexico. More of them set up at border to shoot anyone trying to come back.

The Department of Government Efficiency will no doubt declare that it will be good to have multiple departments doing the same thing. The deep state one which can be in conflict with the unofficial one that just makes decrees through Twitter and demands that everyone listen to them.

Presumably to offset the money we won't be spending in the US. I've visited the US the past two summers + a quick trip in the past fall, but I'll be visiting elsewhere for the next four years.

This will be great! I won't have to pay any extra due to tariffs, because foreigners will pay it all! It's just like I've gone my entire life without paying much in the way of income tax because my employer paid most of my income tax bill for me (OK, they used money deducted from my paycheck to pay the income tax, but I personally never had to send much money to the IRS).
 
Next Step: abolish the IRA, sell tax debt to private collection agencies at a discount.
Worked great for all Princes during the Middle Ages.
