Merged Australian Politics / Australian election

Meanwhile Dutton’s nuclear energy policy might well be his downfall. Already Liberal led Queensland and NT have rejected the policy.

I am not opposed to nuclear energy per se, but it’s time was 30 years ago, not now, when renewables and batteries can do the job.

The general public is opposed to nuclear, often for the wrong reasons, but I think Dutton is in trouble. As bad as Albo is, the Greens and Teals will back him.

RTQ. (Hint: "appear").
It isn't remotely anatomically correct. It doesn't "appear" as anything other than a biscuit with roundish protrusions in a vague imitation of a humanoid figure.

By what appearance can one conclude that the vague humanish figure is necessarily male?

If nothing about the picture of the gingerbread "person" suggests a gender to you then just say "gender neutral". Don't fake stupidity.

The real question is whether nuclear is financially viable - either as a back up or as a replacement for renewables.

Since Dutton is more interested in rubbishing renewables than allowing his numbers to be subjected to scrutiny, I would say the answer is "no".

I would say that Dutton is trying to delay the inevitable move to renewables, to prop up his mates in the coal industry.

That would appear to be right on the money. Part of Dutton's agenda is to extend the use of coal powered stations and to switch off roof top solar panels (since the panels and nuclear power plants would otherwise overload the grid).

Victoria Liberal leader Pesutto gone, replaced by a Dutton clone with hair.

Pesutto was an old style Liberal, who was more popular than Premier Allan (only due to the ALP’s time looks up). I’m not sure Battin can pull it off. He has an all male leadership team with Sam Groth his deputy. Groth is as hopeless a politician as he was a tennis player. He can barely put a coherent sentence together. The other Liberal MPs are no better.

The new hopeless team may allow the ALP to retain office, most likely supported by the Teals.

Intersections 'badly damaged'

South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff said at least two road intersections at Kingaroy had been "significantly damaged" by flash flooding.

"We have no idea how much damage there is, and there is still more rain as we speak," she said.

It's the second time this month the region has been on alert after flash flooding.

Ms Duff said the last flash floods caused significant road damage and the council was negotiating with the state and federal governments to fund repairs.

"We're used to coping with it," Ms Duff said.
Actually, you are used to not coping with it. Global warming means more damaging floods and you can't cope without external help.

Say what you like about Bob Katter and believe me I've said some things. He works tirelessly for his electorate, and they love him for it.
