Donald Trump

Indeed. Should be Putin steering and JD in the trunk.

Tyhe idea the JD and Musk are dictating policy to Trump is stupid. Trump probabl had contempt for and does not really trust, JD. Trump id driving the car..right over the cliff.
ANd the friendship between Musk and Trump will be short lived. Just a case of which one will stab the other in the back.
If nothing else. That apparently Trump basic hostilty toward electric cars, which he shows no sign of backing off on, will doom the frienship.
That and there is only room for one Male Alpha Dog around here.
Also reports that Trump advisors and Muck are fighitng like cats and dogs. He wants appointments to the finiancial posts who will "Shake up Wall Street" that is not going over well.
Musk, if you don't know, has a deep hatred of the Business "Establishement".In the end, they wil have more muscle then Musk.
As for Putin, who knows? Trump does not seem quite as worshipful as before.

Perhaps, but neither is an Alpha dog - they're both just LARPing the role - aided and abetted by their sycophants.

As regards Putin (and Xi, Kim and all the others in the diktators klub), I suppose we'll see whether they can charm Trump into being their lapdog again.

Have any supporters of The Party defended Trump's picks for his cabinet? Are there anyone people in the list qualified to do anything other than dismantle, destroy or hamstring the departments they are to head?

As a foreigner, many of these names mean nothing to me, but RFK Jr and Dr Oz do, and they do look like someone's idea of a joke. It's like he's just trolling healthcare: "I'm putting crazy people in charge to burn it all to the ground and there's nothing you can do".

Actually the corrupt and incompetent heads of department Trump is surrounding himself with might severely curtail the damage his presidency can do. The civil service will manage the idiots by giving them lots to do that doesn't achieve very much. Things might take a lot longer than usual to get done.

Just preventing variations of "password1234" for their logon credentials will probably slow some of them down for a few weeks.

Don't underestimate the power of bureaucrats and long-term civil servants!

Well, I do think Trump will keep some promises.
After all, when you remove all consumer and worker protections it DOES become cheaper to produce 'food'
And lowering taxes for the ultra rich will also be easy now.
So that's two nice promises to fullfil.

My heart leaps a little bit when I see "Pray for Trump" trending on TwiX. Assuming that there was some incident, hopefully medical, that elicited that thread. (The initial ones are mostly sanctimonious claptrap, later on the sensible people chime in and start making jokes.) Turns out there were lots of police presence, some say ambulances(?), at Mar-a-Lago. Source says it was an escort detail for J.D. Vance.

I can still hope.

Call me a masochist, but I'm going to watch his final rally on C-SPAN.

He's looked and spoke so haggard and worn, that I think he's going to really go off the rails (over/under is 2+ hours). They don't call it political theater for nothin'.
Masochist.
The campaign has been over for almost 3 weeks. Any rally after that is pure narcissism, needing the adulation. What a POS he is.

Seb Gorka is his pick to be senior director for counterterrorism.
He was denied security clearance in the last Trump administration

Which would be funny if they were steering but Vance is just a tool for those controlling him and Musk doesn't really have an agenda apart from pretending to be Tony Stark.

IMO Trump is absolutely steering - it's just that he changes his mind about where he's going every few minutes.
I think Musk's main deal is to deregulate for his companies.

There are some weird dynamics in this Trump cabinet. In a way they look like a bunch of cats thrown into a bag.

Trump wants tarrifs across the board, but this would be terrible for Musk, and his partner in the DOGE is Vivek who is in biotech, who will be at odds with RFK Jr who wants to stop all research into infectious disease (there is no way that RFK can last in that role). Then it looks like Trump has also appointed a vaccine advocate for surgeon general. She is of course an advocate because Dear Leader started Operation Warp Speed (which is something I will actually give Trump credit for).

Then of course there are a bunch of other loonies wearing either clown shoes or jackboots.

I assume Trump just wants them all to fight it out, or maybe have them on the inside pissing out rather than on the inside pissing in.

Actually Vivek and Bobby aren't very ideologically opposed after all. Vivek's mo is to buy compounds which have already failed certification, pump lies about what they can do and their effectivenss, do an IPO on inflated prices, immediately selling of his holdi gs and then resubmit them for certification which is guaranteed to fail. Bobby is all about killing regulations that stop Vivek's funny business, because they also kill alternative "medicines".

Oh and guess who owns the companies shich shill these non-cures? Big pharma is who, why make drugs when you can sell bottled water at higher prices?

Yeah, but I am still hoping they fight each other.
