Can You Hear The Laughter?

He was (unbelievable as it may sound) completely honest during the campaign over what he wanted to do; he is doing what he told all those that voted for him or didn't vote for Harris he would do. The USA choose what is happening even now before he becomes President again. He is delivering on his election promises.

Why would anyone have thought he didn't mean what he said?

Why people act surprised when the "Leopards Eating People's Faces" party starts eating their faces is a mystery to me.
Trump is a liar who breaks promises as much as he breaks wind. If he plays true to form, he will break most of his promises, and the world may just survive.

I am not getting laughter from my overseas relatives.

Horrified speechless silence and profound disappointment.

Like being behind a drunk driver who is erratic and swerving all over the road. They finally crash and it is gruesome and bloody and you realize that their kids were in that car with them.

True. I remember going to work the morning after Dump had won here in Norway. So many sorrowful faces.
Or, okay, there was some laughter around the lunch table when he appointed that FOX News person as minister of defence or whatever it was.

Also see my sig.

Because they are a ******* cult. Remember that they also believe nonsense he says even after 30 500+ lies in four years.
In fact, the Dump phenomenon (which I'm sure will be studied for decades and decades to come) has made me want to find and read a book about how sects and cults operate. Anyone have suggestions?

After four years of fascism, including concentration camps where kids are ripped from their parents and riot police beating up peaceful protesters, I'm not hopeful. When someone shows you who they are, etc.

This is currently 99p in the UK

Since the 2016 election, Donald Trump’s behavior has become both more disturbing and yet increasingly familiar. He relies on phrases like, “fake news,” “build the wall,” and continues to spread the divisive mentality of us-vs.-them. He lies constantly, has no conscience, never admits when he is wrong, and projects all of his shortcomings on to others. He has become more authoritarian, more outrageous, and yet many of his followers remain blindly devoted. Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert and a major Trump supporter, calls him one of the most persuasive people living. His need to squash alternate information and his insistence of constant ego stroking are all characteristics of other famous leaders—cult leaders.

In The Cult of Trump, mind control and licensed mental health expert Steven Hassan draws parallels between our current president and people like Jim Jones, David Koresh, Ron Hubbard, and Sun Myung Moon, arguing that this presidency is in many ways like a destructive cult. He specifically details the ways in which people are influenced through an array of social psychology methods and how they become fiercely loyal and obedient. Hassan was a former “Moonie” himself, and he presents a “thoughtful and well-researched analysis of some of the most puzzling aspects of the current presidency, including the remarkable passivity of fellow Republicans [and] the gross pandering of many members of the press” (Thomas G. Gutheil, MD and professor of psychiatry, Harvard Medical School).

Appointing Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence. Gaetz as AG? Fox friend as the top military official. RFK as the health and human services guy.
This is proof that those of us warning that Trump will destroy government institutions is not TDS.

And that is why I think Trump wil fail to become a dictator: He is too damn stupid to pull it off.
For one thing he is way to obvious about it, you have to be sneaky to pull it off.

I had a horrible day yesterday. I'm not a person disposed to depression, but I woke up around 4:00 AM and all I could think about was what the next four years are going to be like and how ashamed of and disappointed in my own country I am. I was literally on the verge of tears almost all day and so depressed. I still can't watch the news in case I see his ugly, disgusting face and hear his grating voice which make me sick.

I had to take a self-imposed sabbatical from news and current events when he won in 2016. Took about a month before I was ready to start paying attention again, so I feel ya.

It's a little shorter for me this time. I'm often amused by news stories that show psychologists and others how to cope with the political trauma, if one could call it that. "Take a break, get some exercise, return to things that make you happy, eat healthily, rely on friends and family, etc." Like it's just a matter of trying to quit smoking. That craving will always be there.

Yup I switched to World Service news instead of Radio 4 because of the mendacious interviewees during Brexit and especially Johnson's government

I feel the same way. I avoid the news except what I read here. I do battle depression and it is greatly exacerbated now.

I agree BUT other smarter people will engineer it while they remain the power behind the buffoon, er I mean the throne
