Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

Before I go to some random ass link can you give me a reason why I should read that article, who "skepchick" is and why her opinion should matter more than anyone else's?
Because it explains that P'nut the squirrel was an illegal pet, who had never even seen a veterinarian in its life. Skepchick is Rebecca Watson, and though she has been a prominent voice in the skeptical community for a long time, this - like all other blog posts - is an opinion piece. But it's one that counters your argument, which is why I posted it.

TLDR. it also wasn't vaccinated for rabies, had been in contact with a wild racoon, had bitten a person, and the only way to check if it was carrying rabies, was postmortem.

Again, not the place for it, and I don't want to derail it any further so we'll have to disagree. Just for future reference, I don't ever do naked links with no explanation. It's just bad form. I'm not going to say anything more in this thread.

I'm not a legal expert, but it seems to me that, if you tell people that there is a chance of winning a big cash prize for some consideration, and there isn't really such a chance, then the people have cause for complaint. Of course, all they had to do was sign a petition, so maybe the consideration doesn't clear the bar for being worthy of legal redress.
i'm no lawyer either, and i'm certain that there are a bunch of laws about conduct fake giveaways too. you can't, for example, make a youtube video promising you'll give a bunch of prizes out to people if they subscribe and then just give them to your friends. i have no idea what the rules are, but surely it must be illegal to set up a giveaway where you say you'll give a prize if people do something and then pay an employee that prize and call it their paycheck.

or, maybe you can do that and it's fine. idk. but this is what i mean that things can't just keep going on this way. ◊◊◊◊ this guy, it's enough scamming, i'm tired of it.

Fair enough. My bad for assuming everyone knew who Rebecca Watson is.

she's like the anita sarkeesian of the "skeptic community", it's actually a pretty wild ride

I clicked on the link after that comment and was greatly disappointed.

Musk bought X so he could buy the White House.
And it worked. Musk's a genius! An evil genius perhaps, but a genius nevertheless. You see, it was always about getting onside with Trump, who he knew would be president again - with a little help. I congratulate him for once again achieving success when all the oh so smart naysayers said he would fail. $44 billion to buy the White House was a bargain!

I have a feeling Musk is being set up to be the fall guy when Trump's economic policies fail.
But will trump's policies fail? The only thing the average American (and Trump voter) cares about is the price of gas. Musk has a solution for that! The more cars Tesla sells, the fewer gas cars are being driven, which will drive fuel prices down. And since Trump supporters don't hate Musk, some of them might actually buy Teslas and never have to pay for gas again!

You forget: MAGA are against electric cars. They're communism!

The relationshi between Musk and Trump is one of pure transaction. Sooner or later they will clash.

Musk’s Twitter gamble paid off. 44 billion now looks like a bargain. A drop in the ocean compared to what he stands to earn over the next 4 years.

well, potential to earn anyway. i think there's a decent chance he ends up being one of the fall guys if trump sours on him, which is a pretty real possibility. we'll see what happens.

anyway i'm not going to give him credit for corruption being a smart business move.

We are now in a Limbo until January, in which Musk will start planning how he will Fix Everything, and give a running commentary on Twitter about it. This is almost certain to alienate everyone, including Trump, making him a persona-non-grata before the second Trump Term even starts.
RFK jr. might be a bit smarter about it, but the result will be the same: Trump will not be able to tolerate these kind of personalities who think of themselves on par or above Trump.
Just like in the First Term, expect a lot of turnover.
