Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

Which proves that it isn't the economy. It's right-wing hate media.
My Alt-Right Conservative friend has been telling me since 2016, "It's the Culture War, stupid."
The Culture War being white, "Christian" culture vs dilution by immigrants, secularism, and Feminism.
He says the preservation of America's traditional family values is the real issue, more important than gas prices.

As conversations continue he always hones in on what he's actually saying: racist swill.

I'm going to hold on to the faith that the United States is stronger than that. Trump is going to do a lot of damage for sure, but I'm going to maintain hope that democracy will survive and Trump will be gone in four years.
If we're lucky, the consequences will convince enough people that they made a mistake and the political pendulum will swing back.
New appointees to the Supreme Court will lock it in for at least a generation (commonly considered to be 40 years).

The monied right has had a hard on for the New Deal and the Great Society since the days they were enacted. Anticipate their gutting.

The Affordable Care Act’s days are numbered.

Climate change legislation will be eliminated.

Expect a significant weakening of safeguards for the public from everything from consumer protection to religious intrusion.

Elon ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Musk and Robert F. (for ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊) Kennedy Jr. - together with Trump the Axis of Idiocy - will be in charge of important things, things that will significantly impact everyone’s lives.

Project 2025 is an oversized, eye-searing neon billboard as to so much else of what’s on the agenda.

The coming years are going to be shockingly harmful.

Trump is just the rodeo clown out front to warm up the crowd for the spectacle to come.

I took today off in case of this outcome. I didn't know how I was going to go in and face my team when they know full well what a trump presidency could mean for our business. I thought it better to give them a day to settle before having a meeting to address their concerns.

But its already happening. My assistant called to let me know that one of our largest customers just cancelled a $200k order that we were slated to begin manufacturing in December. Others will undoubtedly follow suit. None of our customers are looking to spend money on equipment upgrades with the spectre of tariffs hanging over their heads.

We can hang on for a few months but ultimately we will likely be laying off people. I can't sugar coat it.

That is so sad. The stock market is up, celebrating the coming of less regulations. It's like they don't believe tariffs will come. Maybe they are right. But, they also tend to forget how horrible the economy was with Trump in charge. It was making a big swing to the negative even prior to covid.

Harris lost because the majority of Americans recognize the truth: She was never anything more than a backbench San Francisco lawyer who was appointed to political positions that would further her career by an old, crusty, married and powerful man she had an affair with. After that, all she had to do was win popularity contests by people whose primary requirements were a vagina and brown skin. After Joe "Pedo Peter" Biden thrust her into the national spotlight with her token appointment to the vice presidency, the American electorate recognized just how incredibly unqualified, incapable and, frankly, how insufferable she is and they said no thanks.

Cope and seethe, I'm going to enjoy the show.

Nope, I'm going to enjoy him crashing and burning, and the best part is that the dems can now blame everything that goes bad on trump and what's his name, but of course, the hypocritical, maga weirdoes will deny it... bwahahahaha

ETA: Don't forget that the last two Republican Presidents had 9/11 and the start of a pandemic, and also don't forget that Iran and NK have threatened us with severe consequences, so right now, I wouldn't want to be in a republican's shoes, even though, I'm one of the reasonable ones.

I noticed that Pfizer stock is down. Probably anticipating a vaccine skeptic being put in charge of the CDC.

We're a society of noise, entertainment, and novelty. Destruction is easier than creation. Lies are easier and faster than truth. Ignorance is easier than knowledge. Trump is horrendous but it's not just Trump, it's all the grifters and wanna be authoritarians and the majority of voters who support them. They control it all now and there will be no blind stumbling, no barriers to stopping them and they will remove enough who oppose them and replace with loyal followers. Followers who in future elections will find the votes needed to maintain power, who will do everything they can to hide the corruption and horrible things to come. It likely won't all occur in these 4 years but it will happen. Humanity as a whole is wrapped up in a giant snowball barreling down a hill heading for a cliff and no one can stop it. Various people and groups vye for control but no one is really steering and there are systems in society that are detrimental and will lead to our destructing but are nonetheless self reinforcing and no one will be able to change course.

TLDR: There is no real hope for a better future for humanity in general. Society in is doomed and we're not able to stop it. I've thought this for quite a while now and Trump winning back the Presidency and now the popular vote is just another nail in the coffin.

Could you please bring evidence for this? Both have been discussed previously, and the context did not seem to change the meaning of his statements. And I have never heard they should be hoaxes either.
No. As you say, it has been discussed before. I would try different sources because you have been mythinformed.

Love him or hate him, you have to admit, he's the best at what he does. Building electric cars, building rockets, winning presidential elections and **** posting.

Yup, I have a love, hate relationship with the guy, but I have to give him credit for calling out those idiots who killed Pnut (the squirrel) in NY. That made me so mad that there weren't enough swear words to express my real feelings.

Yup, I can see those hypocritical, maga weirdoes secretly wrapping their lips around a "woke" bottle of Bud Light... bwahahahahaha

Weirdly, here in my red area of WI with plenty of MAGAs, Bud Light never left the menu and no one batted an eye when people ordered it.

Since at least the days of Warren Harding, the Republicans have loved a vacuum-brain president. Emptiness at the top allows all sorts of ambitious men to create niches for themselves. Many of them are already boring their holes into the shapeless mass of what just happened.

Ambition is the mother and father of ruthlessness. As soon as Pres. Gumpp is sworn in, his life won't be worth an onion.

I went to bed last night when it was looking bad. I didn't find out the results until a few minutes ago. I want to post in 100-point font but I'll just do it in all caps:

HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?

I can't even go into what I think this means for the country. I am so distraught I can't even think straight. That's all I can say for now.
It happened because economic concerns, wrongly in my view, overrode all other concerns. Then on top of that, Trump pulled in more young, black, and Hispanic voters than is typical.
