Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

X, or Twitter, or TwiX, or Xitter

I considered starting a new thread with this title, but figured I'd get blowback or merged since there are so many threads already. TwiX is my preferred name for it. I believe I came up with it independently.

I used to like to pop in there every once in a while just to see what people are talking about. My preferred entry point is For You, because Trending is usually about sports or stocks which I have little interest in. Another problem I have with it is the lack of specificity for topics. Single words like "Monday" are basically useless.

But especially now, around election time, it's become one of the worst sites ever to visit. It's like Fox News, or worse. I just get dejected and depressed seeing the utter moronity of the majority of posts there. I take some small thought in believing a large percentage of them are Russian or Chinese bots, but other sources have shown me that there are plenty of Americans believing any garbage posted on there.

It's now so quick to spread lies and rumors (untrue) about whatever major event is happening, and it's impossible to stem. The owner even encourages those, and blocks (some) dissent (meaning, debunking).

I just have to visit it less often to retain my sanity. (Yes, I know I don't need to visit the site at all, thank you Mr. Informative.)

I'm starting to get "Rudi" vibes from Musk.

We all know that everything Trump touches dies, and Musk hitching his wagon to Trump is not going to serve him well, no mater whether he wins or not.

Why not just focus on your fields of interest for updates you will never find in msm?
That is my read X only modus.
Excellent for finding ex middle eastern voices like Elica Le Bon as one specific example I found recently.
Where else?

I agree, except I've been using it for 15 years. A little goes a long way.

Twitter is useful mostly to see what's happening on Twitter.

And it's definitely Right-TwiX.

FWIW, I prefer just Twitter - if I'm feeling passive aggressive I will go with "X, formerly known as Twitter" simply because Leon has let slip that that usage in particular gets on his nerves.
