Cont: 2024 Election Thread part 3

My wife and I have a nice walk around the neighborhood, about a mile, mile and a half loop, on most nice evenings and we aren't seeing anywhere near the Trump/Maga flags/signs we saw last election. There's one or two, one or two Harris flags, and one that says "Politicians are Temporary WuTang is Forever."
There's still a few Trump bumperstickers on the back of trucks parked in driveways but those mostly seem old, leftovers from the last election.

I support this message for sure. It should mention that Wu-Tang is also for the children, but I'll let it go this time.

I saw one yesterday.

More Trump than Harris signs around here. I still don't feel comfortable putting a Harris sign out, I live on a heavily traveled road. I don't think yard signs really change voters' minds anyway.

Not in national type elections.

In local elections, I think they are invaluable. When it comes to who to vote for for the local school board, yard signs providing name recognition are going to be huge. I think the place where national signs come into play is so you can see who is setting the yard sign out. When I see Bob Smith for School Board in the same yard as a Trump sign, it tells me a lot about the people endorsing Bob Smith.

IOW, national election yard signs are virtue signals.

You definitely gotta be careful. There was just that article about the sheriff who said to write down the addresses of people displaying Harris signs so they could send immigrants to their house or some dumb ****.

Point being, I wouldn't be shocked if there were a Trump supporting acquiring and tracking people with Harris signs.

I think it's tacky to put up political signs regardless of who its for. Who cares what you think? Are you an advertiser? A sleazy pimp shilling scabrous whores? Have some dignity and don't make your residence (or vehicle) look trashy.

More Harris signs than Trump by a good margin, at least locally.
My nephew, a couple communities over, says his neighborhood is inundated with Trump paraphernalia to the point his house is now conspicuous by its lack of participation, which he finds worrisome.

The last yard sign I had that was even relatively political was my sign endorsing the medical marijuana amendment that did end up getting passed. Other than that I can't understand dick riding a politician to the extent I have their names in my yard.

That is not that unreasonable claim. Man foreign affairs experts have said that the Biden administration has been a failure at deterrence, and that Trump—maybe, n part, because he was unpredictable—was successful in that area.

I note that Putin also didn’t invade Ukraine when Obama was president. Putin must have been too scared.

Even in times where there was passion for a Democratic Candidate, like Obama, the Left just has never been AS big with the whole "display of support" thing.

There's also an X-factor that's probably at least some factor in this that I've brought up before and... well rural white people just ******* love flags. Don't ask me to explain it. Trump Flags, Nascar Flags, College Football Flags, the, ay know Flag. Big flags. Flags on cars. It's just how they express support more then like non-rural people tend to.

It's their version for "retweet for awareness."

Just to nitpick, Putin invaded and annexed Crimea, a part of Ukraine, in 2014 during Obama's administration.

damn, ninja'd by plague311.

Thank you for another data point supporting the hypothesis that the administration has failed at deterrence.

What did Trump do to deter Putin from being in Ukraine? It was just as illegal in 2016-2020 than it was in 2014. If you've got nothing, which you don't, that's fine too. I just want to see you actually defend the statement, which you can't.

Saw another Wu-Tang sign today. I also saw two women putting up a bunch of Trump signs along N.H. Route 111 in Danville. Refrained from insulting them.

But there's a lot more Trump signs going up on lawns in my town. I think the county GOP is probably calling registered Republicans and pushing them to display signs.

It's true. I have a little ranch in rural (I'm talking a town population of 150 tops rural) OK and both me and my uncle down the way have American flags flying at the house. It's never even crossed my mind to do the same here in Vegas.

My next door neighbors do have big Trump 2020 flags hanging on the wall in their garages though.

I was working next to the Erie Canal a couple weeks ago when a boat went by displaying a Trump 2024 flag. The guy piloting the boat waved and pointed at his flag. I refrained from making a different gesture in response.
