The Tim Walz campaign, and the ******** attacks upon him.

I didn't have a clue who Tim Walz was before a year or two ago when the Supreme Court reversed Roe v Wade. Minnesota reacted quickly and he was at the forefront of that. Admittedly I still wasn't that enthusiastic of a non-swing state Governor taking the number 2 spot.

But now I know why they picked him. Shapiro might have helped them more in Pennsylvania. But I doubt it.
I also kno why the GOP is desperate to destroy his magic.
He's as good a man running for the top two spots since Jimmy Carter. He understands what service to others means.

The National Guard is not like the other branches of military. While they are trained to fight, their primary job is to help communities in emergencies. Hurricanes, twisters, floods, riots insurrections. They demonstrate America's national interest in serving people in need.

Then the guy teaches high school. Another job of service. Then he coaches. Another job of service. His life has never been about him. It's been about how he can help others.

Now the Republicans of course will try and destroy him. Paint him perhaps as a phony and some kind of a communist. But he's not a phony, if you wanted someone to be emblematic of middle class America and it's values, you couldn't have found someone better. The guy looks straight out of central casting.

If I'm the Harris campaign I'm sending him not only to swing states but red states that have a bit of blue to them. Those that might have a Democratic Governor or Senator. Like Montana. Democratic Senator Tester has won twice in Montana. Kentucky, North Carolina, West Virginia. He's the perfect person to win back Middle America for the Dems.

Some years someone I know very well was working with a guy who used to be a troubleshooter for some global banks. He advised her that if she looked to work in the finance sector in IT management in her interview she should be sure she talks about the money and not about how the work looked exciting, she wanted to experience fintech etc. "If you're not about the money, they will not understand you and will fear you".

His advice might apply to finance and IT. But I don't think it applies to wholesale politics. I've worked in politics. I also worked in IT sales for 30 years. I understand very well the importance of selling on price and costs and using cost benefit analysis. That said, I don't think I can count the number of times I lost sales when I my product was cheaper and better. It's a huge mistake to ignore the importance of presentation, appearance and relatability.

Do you think John Wayne was a great actor? No, he was a crap actor that appealed to audiences.

Most of the voters don't understand policy or economics. They vote on gut reactions. I wish it wasn't true. But I know damn well it is.

It is a job interview of sorts, but more of an audition than a finance or IT Job

I reread my post and I was very unclear. I intended to imply that some people might be afraid of Walz because they can not understand his motivation - the idea of service is alien to them as the concept of finding jobs that are a challenge or a chance to learn or just interesting are alien to others. As the minister said in The Big Chill "Are not the satisfactions of being a good man among our common men great enough to sustain us anymore?"
There were a number of memes in the UK of Tory politicians talking to NHS staff who were explaining how they treat people with the Tory always saying "yes but where do you make money out of this? It's like talking a foreign language."

You nailed it. That is the question the finance guys would think. And frankly, that is what I thought when I first started in sales. I struggled my first few years in sales because of it. I would try and break into an account offering a far better product at a far better price. Not understanding how important relationships are.

The idea of helping others is foreign to lots of people. It's a zero sum game to them. Trump is the epitome of transactional relationships. I'll help you if it helps me. But if you can't reciprocate, you're on your own buddy.

I'm from Iowa. About as middle America as one can get. My mother made us understand at an early age the importance of service to others. We were encouraged as kids to help our neighbors in some way each week. Whether it was mowing the old lady's lawn down the block or doing her grocery shopping or some other kind of volunteering. We were encouraged to do it for the joy of helping someone else.

A lot of people still feel that way. And we love to see that in others. And occasionally we see those incredible individuals who are ridiculously unselfish. The little town I live in now has this fireball of a woman who probably puts in 60 hours a week volunteering and organizing others to volunteer. You kind of hate it when you see her coming because you know she is going to ask you to help with something. You also know it will be impossible to say no because it is a fraction of what she does.

When I look at Tim Walz, I see a guy who says "what can I do?" And then he does it. JD Vance serves for four years? Impressive. Walz served for 24 and then asked how else can he help?

You can't fake that. And I think it is foolish to attack him.

y of us almost instinctually think about the bottom line and what's in it for me. But I think most people aren't looking to get rich. Money is important to everyone but it's not everything.

But I think that is the

.... what?

"Molon labe" is an ancient Greek phrase that translates to "come and take them" or "come!" "Take!" It's a classical expression of defiance and daring in the face of overwhelming opposition. The phrase is said to have originated during the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC, when the Persian king Xerxes I demanded that the Spartans surrender their weapons. According to Greek biographer Plutarch, the Spartan king Leonidas I responded with "Molon labe".
The phrase is often used by the right-wing fringe of the "2A" community of gun owners as a shout of defiance and an implied threat of violence against an imagined federal government. It has also evolved to voice bold opposition to perceived oppression.
"Molon labe" is also the name of a fictional book by Boston T. Party about a free state initiative focused on Wyoming. The book explores whether Wyoming could "liberate" itself by attracting enough freedom-loving individuals who would relocate there and enjoy their rights of gun ownership, privacy, schooling, health and diet, unrestricted travel, and property.

*Holds my hand up* I know what it mean. I was in the military for 20 years including the direct timeframe after 300 was released, grunts love that phrase.

I just don't know what it supposed to mean as a random phrase that was in response to nothing I said.

I align with the 'shall not be infringed' community. Molon labe.

So know we're gonna pretend your issue with Walz is his gun policy and you haven't been argued into a corner over pretending to be bothered by his rank at retirement?

I could have swore Honest was one of the core values of the Marines.

The core values are honor, courage, and commitment.

Please tell me what is honorable about:
  • 162 lies in a 60 minute interview?
  • 10,000+ lies in 4 years?
  • 92 criminal indictments?
  • 32 criminal convictions?
  • 10 million dollar bribe from Egypt?
  • A rape in a Bergdorfs?.
  • Being found liable for persistent fraud in running a business, a charity and and a so called university?
  • Stealing highly classified documents and keeping them in a bathroom?
  • An insurrection against his own country?
  • Attacking a Gold Star family?
  • Attacking Colonel Vindman?
  • Saying the Medal of Freedom is better than the Medal of Honor?
I could go on.

But I doubt any of this is about honor. This is about a fetish for guns and the irrational fear that they will be taken away from you.

Not sure why a certain someone wasn't honest enough to just SAY it was about guns instead of pretending literally anyone cared what paper-rank Walz retired at for a dozen pages.

I have never understood the gullibility of gun owners going insane about gun ownership. I'm a gun owner. I'm a hunter. I have three guns. I am not the least bit worried the government is going to take my guns away.

But OTOH, I don't walk around with a sidearm. I don't have any assault weapons. I'm not a felon and I'm not a paranoid schizophrenic. I am not looking forward to the Day of the Rope either.

There hasn't been serious government legislation against the purchase (not ownership) of firearms since Bill Clinton and the so called assault weapons ban. Which didn't ban assault weapons.

Argued into a corner? What?

I hope the GOP follows your lead and keeps pounding away on these nothing burger attacks. I want to hear Vance try to parse the rank issue in the debate. Or better yet the IVF issue.

Maybe Walz will mention going out for a coffee but is seen walking out with a frap!

Good stuff, weirdos.
