If you think things are expensive now, they will get 100 times WORSE if Kamala gets four years as President. Under her plan, Kamala will implement SOVIET Style Price Controls. She will abolish private health care, and make California's ridiculous tax policies the law of the land, meaning EVERY American will be taxed up to 80% of their income! If you want more CASH and less TAX, VOTE TRUMP!!!

Dunno if this is OT, but I just cruised through a FacePlant thread devoted to blue voters living in red regions. Scroll after scroll, I read scared exclamations by people who mostly said that they didn't feel safe -- safe from vandalism, theft, even assault -- displaying the merest yard sign or sticker supporting Dems.

Granted, most of these people are living in the rural south, where hatefulness is a god-gifted right. But how justified are their fears in fact? Is anybody taking notice of this? Is it as real a threat as it sounds?
I imagine the likelihood of this is small, but not zero. It's been known to happen, at various times and situations. I confess I am old enough to remember the "McCarthy era" during which my parents were vociferous liberals who often wrote letters to the local paper, and we did, in fact, suffer some vandalism and vocal threats, including bullies on the school bus until my sister cold-cocked someone with her lunchbox.

I would not worry too much, especially here in Vermont, but I live in a red zone of the otherwise blue state, and find it convenient not to advertise my point of view.

Re Post # 863: In a normal campaign, if a candidate uttered such crazed blather, you'd just shake your head and say, "He's losing it."

But what fun is normal? Donnie goes from strength to strength!

At this point we can't even go "In any normal election Trump doing X would destroy any chance he had" because that number would probably cause stack overflow errors.

I remember when misspelling a root vegetable or looking kinda goofy in a tank helmet would turn you into a political laughing stock joke for a decade.

Hell, one candidate was mocked for being short.

So mandating things are sold no higher than a certain ceiling will make them dearer? You don't understand maths Dumby Donald.

I'm in California, and this morning my wife and I were canvassing for a Democratic congressional candidate running against a 2 term Republican incumbent. Democratic registration in this district has long out paced Republicans, but it is considered a solid Red district because Democrats don't turn out on election day. (Biden was the first Democratic Presidential candidate to carry the district since Clinton (Bill), and the Republican representing the district voted to overturn the election.)

Anyway, the reason that's relevant is that several registered Democratic voters we talked to this morning were enthusiastic about Kamala and the House candidate, but said that the only reason they didn't put up a yard sign was they were concerned about being targeted with vandalism.

But aside from lacking understanding, of course, the statement is also seriously lacking in veracity, though I suppose these days it's hardly noticeable. But it does seem sometimes as if we are so focused on the crumb of ignorance at the bottom of the pack that we miss the lies that surround it.

I have a number of friends who live in areas where they're heavily outnumbered by MAGAs and the fear is real enough.

How justified is it? I don't know, but given the clear insanity of the MAGA people I'd be very wary.

I live in a MAGAT infested town. Still, they are much better behaved this election than 4 years ago.

What makes it worse is that he was talking about giving the Medal of Freedom to the widow of some stupid, treasonous **** who gave Trump a bunch of money. All the widow did to get the award was get banged by Trump mega donor.

Obviously that was her Vietnam

It is interesting that Trump has been written out as a viable candidate, so rags to riches says put all your money on Kamala Harris.

Ladbrokes will return you 180% on your investment.
Harris 4/5
Trump 1/1

You really don't understand odds do you ?

4/5 yields an 80% return.

Yes 80% is a great return on a sure outcome.
But Trump is a wild card in this run to the back of the tote on a surety.
You and I have no vote just a bleak reminder.
