Sure the US is a big place with a lot of people so frankly I've never been super impressed that you can search far and wide and find a tiny, statistically meaningless cherry picked examples of black people who are for segregation or gays who are against gay marriage or whatever.

But women? Finding women who are against the things that we are told are pro-women like abortion rights and having options beyond staying at home and being a subservient broodmare to a husband who owns them? That ain't THAT hard to do.

Some factor has made "women's rights" less palatable to a meaningful number of women then "black rights" to black people or "gay rights" to gay people or whatever.

Don't ask me to explain, but as with a lot of unpleasant things in politics it does us no good to pretend it ain't true.

39% of female voters voted for Trump in 2016. He GAINED with women voters, taking 42% in 2020. If he pulls under 38% in 3024 I'll be amazed.

Like it or not what we think of as anti-woman rhetoric appeals to a lot of women.

It's because they're more "concerned" about immigration and their "very legitimate concerns about crime" than they are about issues that actually impact their welfare, much the same way Trumps blue collar male supporters are.

Gays are exactly the same. Look at how gay the GOP is. The RNC is Grindr's superbowl. They're all bigotry out front, but they crashed the app trying to party in the back. The difference between gay and female republicans is the dudes can pretend to be totally straight manly men with manly hobbies like going off camping with their bros to suntan their testicles together, which is a perfectly normal and not weird at all thing that manly men do.

Black voters break away from the GOP because for the most part the GOP doesn't give a crap about them and prefers to disenfranchise them entirely. There's the same undercurrent of intra-demographic resentment but it's not being actively exploited. The GOP was trying to find purchase with their "not Black enough" attacks on Harris until Stinky screwed the pooch at the NABJ interview.

To add another observation about race, the GOP is a place where someone named Fuentes can fight with someone whose kid is named Vivek over who is the whitest white nationalist in the klan. Self-hating hypocrisy is baked into these folks all the way down.

As good as it has worked for any other administration and apparently better than Trump's. That was a nice pivot though.

Nope.

Treating immigration issues at the border or after they're here is NEVER going to be effective. The problem starts in their countries. As long as America turns a blind eye to poverty and opportunity abroad the US will deal with this issue. Preventative medicine is almost always a better solution than treatment.
 
Take Any name out the phone book at random, give him or her the nomination of one fo the two parties, and they will get at least 38% of the vote.

I seem to recall Repugnicans blocked a major immigration bill, a bill that was written and co-sponsored by two Repugnicans - who then voted against their own bill! Why? Because their Fat Orange God-King told them to, so that he could use the issue as a cudgel.

So much for putting America First aye?
