Kamala Harris Election Campaign

Maybe they do. But I have been told by teachers in my state that its importance has been substantially de-emphasized.

In Nevada, you have to take a civics exam to graduate, but there is no minimum required score. So yeah, it's not a point of emphasis I'd say. You also are required to take the ACT whether you're attending college or not to get a diploma. The district pays for the exam.

Drat! Ninja’d again!

I was going to say, “Someone should write a dystopian novel about that.” and leave the rest to the reader’s imagination.

We tend to think of this as something of a horrible future. Not acknowledging that it is just a revival of the past.

He already did. Standard "Snarky comment, then run away without addressing anything of substance or value."

Well J D Vance's entire election rhetoric is to convince the MAGA women that their main duty to the nation is to serve as brood mares and wet nurses for blonde white men.

I really do not understand how any woman can vote for a whole party that effectively seeks to turn them into household appliances you can have sex with until you get bored of them. They aren't even subtle about it. Sure, the poor women brainwashed by the religious 'education' allowed in the US, but that is still a minority right?

You don't have to believe it's good for you, you just have to know what's good for you.

"Can my husband find out who I'm voting for?"

I recognize the hand grenade I am potentially throwing into this discussion but, and let me 100% crystal clear, speaking only as a voting demographic, women are weird.

Sure the US is a big place with a lot of people so frankly I've never been super impressed that you can search far and wide and find a tiny, statistically meaningless cherry picked examples of black people who are for segregation or gays who are against gay marriage or whatever.

But women? Finding women who are against the things that we are told are pro-women like abortion rights and having options beyond staying at home and being a subservient broodmare to a husband who owns them? That ain't THAT hard to do.

Some factor has made "women's rights" less palatable to a meaningful number of women then "black rights" to black people or "gay rights" to gay people or whatever.

Don't ask me to explain, but as with a lot of unpleasant things in politics it does us no good to pretend it ain't true.

39% of female voters voted for Trump in 2016. He GAINED with women voters, taking 42% in 2020. If he pulls under 38% in 3024 I'll be amazed.

Like it or not what we think of as anti-woman rhetoric appeals to a lot of women.

Yes but WHY women and not blacks and gays is harder to explain.

The only thing I can think of is religion. I don't think many black people go to churches that teach them that it's part of God's plan for them to be subservient to white people. And most gay people have experienced religion telling them that they don't have any place in God's plans. But millions of women grow up being taught that the natural moral order of the universe places them under the authority of men in pretty much every matter.
