Kamala Harris Election Campaign

Except Trump knows things are going bad. He is considering firing much of his campaign staff. This is something I laugh at. It's like him firing lawyers. The problem wasn't his lawyers and it isn't his staff. It's him. He never listens to any of them.

Interesting was when Biden was running almost 73 percent responded that he was too old. And at that time 53 percent said Trump was too old. Today 23 percent think Harris is too old while the percentage that think Trump is too old has risen to 63 percent.

These facts re drowned out by the nonsensical wailings of the Trumpettes.

Not so sure about the facts are being downed out.
It is not that the Trumpers are not trying, but it might not be working all that well.

And that his Veep choice has turned out to be somethng of a fiasco is not helping him much.

Why didn't you guys approve the strong border bill when you had the chance?

That would mean they would have had to do something. About the only thing Trump did on the border were stupid stunts like bus people to Martha's Vineyard, put children in cages, separate then from their families and build a half mile of fencing that didn't stop anyone.

No administration has EVER done less and yet bragged more.

2016 Trump Campaign promises vs what was accomplished.

Promise: Build a fence across the entire Southern Border.
Accomplished: Just under a mile

Promise: Make Mexico pay for it.
Accomplished: Mexico didn't pay for it, in fact, Trump attempted to get the Mexico President to say he would pay for it but assuring him that Mexico wouldn't.

Promise: End the Affordable Care Act
Accomplished: Didn't

Promise: He would replace it with something better.
Accomplished: Never even attempted creating something better.

Promise: Be the Infrastructure President
Accomplished: Absolutely NOTHING

The Trump administration accomplished only one thing during its term and that was Grift. It is doubtful that any administration in history has ever been that corrupt.

You have to remember that Trump at that time was basking in Biden's debate fiasco. He said multiple times that the Vice President didn't matter. So that's about how much consideration he gave to the choice.

The negative campaign against Hillary Clinton started long, long before. Back in the 90s even before Bill won his first election the right wing media machine was pumping out hate for Hillary. She was demonized before she even had a chance to do anything in government. It was just as vague back then, though, as to what precisely about her was so evil. Just that she was. And it stuck for thirty years.

IIRC it started during Bill’s campaign when she cast some shade on Tammy Wynette and baking cookies. Deplorables didn’t like some Yankee educated lesbian making fun of them.

ETA sorry Darat I didn’t see your mod warning before posting in response to something from yesterday.

It pissed off a LOT of long time GOpers, who saw, quite rightly, Vance as just a cheap opportunist.
It is pretty funny to see all the nasty things Vance had to say about trump pre 2020,
I still think the best description of Vance might be an osxcure one, but look up a English politician during the reing of Henry the Eight Called Richard Rich. The supreme oppotunist. Yes, that is charecter in "A Man For All Seasons" who perjures himself by betraying Thomas More.

I've seen that same comment made by a surprising number of people and don't get how it's even possible to suggest it.

Hillary might have a been a silly old cuckqueen but she wasn't a racist, misogynist criminal, unlike her opponent.

She wasn't Snow White, but she sure as hell wasn't Donald J Trump.

I'm curious how you came to that conclusion.

You nailed it. He was new, not a politician, seemed like like a breath of fresh air. Now I think it will be entertaining watching him trying to overturn the election from a position as a mere candidate. There is still a lot of time to go though.

You must not have been paying much attention then. He was already spouting lie after lie after lie. He'd already shown his character when he'd made the infamous "grab her by the *****" tape. He was already known to be a serial adulterer, and he'd already bankrupted several companies. If he was a 'breath of fresh air" you must have been wearing a gas mask as well as blinders.

HRC is the perfect example of what two years of a constant negative campaign can do. She had a very high approval rating as a Senator and Secretary of State. And when it was clear to the GOP that she was probably going to be the Democratic nominee, they went after that high opinion rating. We heard about Libya and her emails non-stop.

Almost no one offers a good reason why they didn't like Hillary. They just know that they didn't.

Absolutely. They hated her for daring to be more than just the "little woman" behind the man, especially for working for universal healthcare for all Americans during Bill's presidency. When that went down due to conservative opposition, she was the brains behind CHIPS (Children’s Health Insurance Program). She was a strong, brilliant, forward-looking woman and they hated her for it. They still do.

True. Hilary was just such a bitch. Kamala just doesn't have that baggage.

From your own post you thought Trump was a "breath of fresh air" and ignored all the horrendous things already known about him before the 2016 election. Your opinion on people's character doesn't have a good track-record.

You misunderstand what "concern" actually is: it's the third element in the glorious triumvirate of nothing. The other two are frequently cited together, I'm sure you've heard of them, they are "thoughts" and "prayers". All three are simply words uttered to demonstrate the speaker is a good person. There is no actual action taken, or intention to take action, or interest in taking action. All that matters is that the audience understands the speaker of the words feels the best possible feelings about something.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

If I hear one more "thoughts and prayers" being sent after a gun massacre, I'm going to scream. (Curse word) thoughts and prayers!

I know that movie well. One of my favorites. Richard Rich was played by John Hurt. He did a great job of playing a sleaze. The great Robert Shaw probably best known for The Sting and Jaws played Henry the VIII. Paul Scofield played Thomas More. I think Scofield won the Oscar for his performance.

Not strictly speaking true. He did sit in a truck for a whole afternoon making "choo-choo" noises. For T****y that was a big achievement.

Be fair, it was a bit longer than the cheese wall.

Trump has begun to lay whe groundwork for another :Stolen Election campaign.
Stories about it all over the place.

Well, all the fake polls that show him not in the lead are evidence it's being stollen.

If you think that you're an idiot.

Fact. The Biden administration has been tougher on immigration than the Trump administration was. It just didn't put children in cages or take them away from their families. Fact, Congress has done nothing but complain. Fact, Republicans basically wrote a very tough bill to strengthen immigration restrictions and the Democrats agreed to pass that bill. Fact, Trump blew up that deal because he wanted to use immigration as a political issue.

Unfortunately there's a proportion of the electorate who will vote for performative cruelty over actual progress every time.

Everything was in my posts.
Let's break it down then. Here's the post you said was idiotic, with my comments interspersed...

Marcus said:
She has the cooperation of the president, he will do what he can to help her look good for the election.
Certainly true. It would be, er, idiotic to say otherwise

Marcus said:
Kamala recognizes that immigration policy is a big weakness for the Democrats this election cycle. Not just for President, but also all the races down the line.
I suspect this is where the disconnect happened. This is most certainly true, even though it's not fair.

Marcus said:
Lately she has been promising to tighten it up if she is elected. The Republican response is "you left the spigot open for four years!" It doesn't matter that she is only the VP, the actions of the administration she is part of will reflect on her election chances.
Indsputably true, fair or not.

Agreed. But this isn't at odds with Marcus's post.

The implication was the Democrats could implement some magical policy in three months that would address totally unknown concerns of moderates and undecided on immigration. To suggest this has to based on ignorance. A basic understanding of our laws and the politics shows that this is wishful thinking.
You're hastily jumping to conclusions and erecting a strawman.

The border issue can't be explained to undecided voters with facts. Fox does not use facts. They go to the border, film some illegals at the border and describe the situation with such words that the viewer really is scared. Fox and pals have also convinced that penniless migrants show up at your local park and somehow distribute fentanyl and kill your teenagers. The peniless migrants bring no fentanyl.
