Trump told Elon that he would leave the country and go to Venezuela if he loses the election.

How... weird.

Why Venezuela?

No enforceable extradition treaty?

Google said:
Does Venezuela have an extradition treaty with the US?
For example, countries that have extradition treaties with the United States, but which are known to often refuse extradition requests anyway include Ecuador, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Iceland, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.

And again I repeat my observation that for the first time in US History we have to legit worry about a former President turning traitor. (Well traitor-er then he already is)

The Bushes, Reagan, hell even Nixon were bad Presidents, but nobody, NOBODY ever had one ounce of any legit fear they would jump on their private pedophile plane in the middle of the night and fly to a foreign country and give up state secrets just to tweak the libs.

And yeah "Hardy har it's Trump he golfed and stared at his daughter's boobs the entire time he didn't learn anything" is... humorously true but he was the office of President for 4 years. There's SOMETHING in that shriveled third testicle he calls a brain that we don't want foreign powers to know.

I doubt Trump has any secrets he hasn't already sold, but it's interesting to hear him admit to being a flight risk. He's definitely got a GTFO plan if the election goes south for him.

Assuming he makes it that far. Dude is going downhill fast. Not even the slurring - how he loses track in the middle of a thought, gets confused, and tries to cover that up with aggression. Common sundowning behavior. I'd feel bad for him if he hadn't spent so much of his life being a piece of crap to everyone.

I've also seen a picture with some drool in the corner of his mouth which he apparently wasn't aware of for a while.

When Biden was still around, the usual defense for his problems was "but look at Trump". Trump's new problem is that he's lost the "but look at Biden" defense.

I doubt Trump has any secrets he hasn't already sold given away for free, because he wanted the attention that he would get by talking about sooper secret stuff.,
Fixed it for you.

I remember elsewhere in the forum we talked about what would be required for Trump to flee jurisdiction.

He does have to worry about the FAA/air traffic control (although deviating from a flight plan might not be a problem if he happens to be travelling in international airspace), the range of his plane, and the fact he will have a secret service detail with him that might not be too happy finding themselves in some foreign country.

There is also the fact that there was a spike in USA spooks getting discovered and killed, or turned, during and after Trump's first term.

I'm certain Trump would flee to his daddy, Putin, when the time comes.
That might seem like the obvious choice of destination.

Only problems with that are:

- It might make some of the MAGAchud think "Wait, maybe there really was something about Russia helping Trump get elected". Harder to argue "Russia Hoax" when you're hanging out with Putin

- Would Putin really want him? Trump wouldn't be of much use at that point, and I can't think of any benefit he would get from hosting Stubby McBonespurs.

When is time to flee, I don't think Trump will care what the MAGAts think.
Putin could find Trump useful as a propoganda tool, "Trump had to flee his country because they wanted to make him a political prisoner..."

Maybe. But the fact that Trump is incredibly ego-driven makes me think he will want to avoid the IMAGE that he "needed Russian Help" to get elected.

Yeah but Putin would get that advantage regardless of where Trump decided to flee to.

He actually doesn't care what the MAGAts think. He only cares what people around him think. Those people could tell him the lies that comfort him, like "you still have a majority of support in the USA."

Also, Putin likes to look like a hero.

He can ditch his Secret Service detail any time. And if he does it's not their job to follow him or stop him. He can just say, "I'm going off on my own and don't want your protection this evening," and they will stand down

I think the secret service may be obligated to arrest Trump, or keep him from fleeing.

To be honest I am not sure what the requirements are for the secret service in the event that a target says "I don't want your protection this evening". (They may be required to maintain a perimater at all times even if they don't have agents stationed near him.)

But even then, that would be a problem for him. "I don't need you today... now help me load my luggage onto this plane" would raise a lot of red flags.

It's standard in Columbo episodes for the killer to let the staff have the night off.

I wonder if it's different for a current POTUS rather than an ex-POTUS.

I don't believe the actual POTUS can give secret service the day off. I have nothing to support that.
