Reagan's administration wasn't staffed by religious zealots. In fact, the opposite is true. Ronald Reagan actually despised religious charlatans like Jerry Fallwell. But he definitely wasn't beyond using them as allies.

Nancy Reagan consulted San Francisco astrologerJoan Quigley. But the only one to say she influenced any decisions was the astrologer.

I agree very little with Zig. And I think Reagan's policies were terrible. But his administration was run efficiently.

I saw him during the debate. And while it was terrible in presentation, it wasn't bad in content. That's what is sad about campaigns vs governing. One has little to do with the other.

But I grant that there is no way to know for sure. I thought my previous post made that clear. The public doesn't know the President, just like they don't know their favorite celebrities.

I base most of my voting decisions based on policy positions. Most people base it on more ephemeral/intangible attributes.

Some people just need to cling to their belief that "Biden is senile" for their own reasons. Some people have a very difficult time admitting being wrong and would rather just dig in than do so.
 
What gets me is how they didn't even have a contingency for this. Did they forget Harris was VP and most likely to step in if Biden dropped out? Even if it did devolve into the **** show we all feared, she would still be the front runner. Plus, she was a senator. They should have already had volumes of oppo on her. What happened to that vaunted insitute for researching every possible opponent the Republicans used to have?

The GOP today is a shadow of its former self. A lot of talent is gone and replaced by lazy dilletantes. Loyalty to Der Fuhrer is everything.
