Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

all i'm saying is, what if a significant amount of their shares in their companies are collateral on a loan, and those shares are overvalued, and then he lit $44B on fire? well you'd move all your companies to texas, sue to try and get an illegally formed deal reinstated to get more shares, and constantly try and prop up the stock price by defrauding investors with promises of technology that doesn't exist.

it has been established that Musk tries to manipulate the stock of companies all the time - it's criminal, but too much effort to get a conviction when the other side can pay high-powered lawyers for decades of litigation.

And for the exercise of Votes or benefit from rising stock prices it doesn't matter if the shares are collateral.

Capitalism is set up to exponentially benefit those with the biggest capital power - and disenfranchise those without.

This thread is disrespectful of a clever man.

Don't worry, Noel is entirely unaware of the disrespect he gets here. It will have no impact upon him.

The flip side of that, of course, is that he is entirely unaware of your supplication before his glory. He will never see how low you were willing to prostrate yourself in his honour.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe he's aware of this conversation, maybe he appreciates the brickbats you take for him.

Maybe he's keeping a spreadsheet, and on that glorious day when the we can all ascend from our ideological trenches, and bask under a sun that sees no culture war, on that day Leon will consult his spreadsheet of true believers, cast his gaze across the landscape, and his gaze will not tarry on you for even a moment, because you are not him, and he gives not a **** for those that are not him.

You're not his type, he ain't buying you a pony.

He doesn't care about anyone but himself.

I kinda believe that - the "efficient Altruism" crowd has gone completely nuts when they realize what Altruism actually is - and therefore decided to fight asteroids and robots instead.

Efficient altruism* was always a scam. It's creed is essentially: "We can admit that we're generous, but we're not going to give today."

Extra points for the quote I deliberately mangled.

*Or should that be effective? Not that it matters.

is it okay to make jokes about him that are not 100% based in reality?

It's not like comedians haven't been doing that since forever - so I don't know why I'm getting so much hostility for it.
Jokes aren't the same thing -- they're jokes. A joke isn't going to send me on a wild goose chase.

It's puzzling that you don't grasp why people don't like being lied to, particularly on a forum that is ostensibly about debunking falsehoods..

Plenty of people don't understand what is or isn't a joke.

You are drawing an arbitrary line here.

Elon posted about his legal action against companies that don't advertise on 'X'

Elon Musk
@elonmusk
We tried peace for 2 years, now it is war.

What is he hoping for? That the courts will force companies to pay for adverts on 'X'?

Well, he's suing a group of advertisers for participating in an "illegal boycott". He also invoked RICO. So, I guess the short version is that he's hoping to win that lawsuit, and that hope seems reasonable to him because he's a moron.
