Split Thread Trump Document indictment (as opposed to other indictments)

Ty Cobb, former Trump White House lawyer, says she's incompetent and she's clearly in over her head. He said this case should have come to trial this week.
I think that very well may be true as well. But in reality, this case really isn't that difficult. She is making it up as she goes and bending over backwards for an indicted defendant. Instead of just following the laws on the books. A good law clerk should be able to help a lot.

Man, he's throwing the Secret Service under the bus - the people who lied to investigators and destroyed evidence for him.
The people who tried to abduct Pence in service of his Jan 6th scheme.

They should be pissed, but won't be.

Probably related to the "Deadly Force" trending on TwiX. The FBI was authorized to use it in their search. I don't doubt that it's standard policy but made out to be an outrage by MAGArats.

It was, it was a standard boiler plate use of deadly force policy document that is attached to all FBI search warrant filings. Exactly the same document was attached to the warrant when they searched Biden's summer house.

Remember, 90% of right-wing outrage is learning how things work for the first time.

My former BIL was in the FBI. He was authorized to use deadly force at any time, as needed. He was authorized to use deadly force on an elementary school playground, even.

Looked this up:

What is the FBI’s policy on the use of deadly force by its special agents?

FBI special agents may use deadly force only when necessary—when the agent has a reasonable belief that the subject of such force poses an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to the agent or another person. If feasible, a verbal warning to submit to the authority of the special agent is given prior to the use of deadly force.

When I was an officer in FL, there was an additional situation: deadly force could be used to stop someone in custody from escaping. Still on the books, apparently:

776.07 Use of force to prevent escape.—

(1) A law enforcement officer or other person who has an arrested person in his or her custody is justified in the use of any force which he or she reasonably believes to be necessary to prevent the escape of the arrested person from custody.

(2) A correctional officer or other law enforcement officer is justified in the use of force, including deadly force, which he or she reasonably believes to be necessary to prevent the escape from a penal institution of a person whom the officer reasonably believes to be lawfully detained in such institution under sentence for an offense or awaiting trial or commitment for an offense.

Yep. In fact, he carried everywhere he went (even at the swimming pool) because he was required to intervene in case of an incident, and if he did not have his weapon with him and an incident occurred, he would have been in serious trouble with J Edgar Hoover.

PS. Are all FBI agents "special agents"? Is there a non-special FBI agent?

The inmates have truly taken over the asylum.
House Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene has claimed the Department of Justice and FBI "were planning to assassinate Pres [President] Trump" during the August 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago that recovered boxes full of classified documents that were being held by the former president. It followed Trump's claim on his Truth Social website that the DOJ "AUTHORIZED THE FBI TO USE DEADLY (LETHAL) FORCE" during the operation. Newsweek news link

Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer was extremely critical of trump and his allies for falsely claiming that trump's political opponents are out to kill him. This is the kind of rhetoric, Schumer said, "that leads to political violence.”

All are Agents - not sure about Special.
I guess it's special when you are one of the few non-Special Agents.

"Do you think the Department of Justice and FBI planned to assassinate Pres. Trump when they raided Mar-a-Lago?"
"Absolutely I do! Biden wants trump dead!"
