Irrelevant. You argued that interests held in a blind trust had to be declared on the register of interests. That requires the beneficiary to see into the trust, and is clearly precluded by what a blind trust inherently is. When corrected, you backpedaled to say that Members had to declare that they had a blind trust. That is not true.

And the proper word is "trustee." And a blind trust is not a company. By all means keep demonstrating how little you know about this.

Begging the question. You want the reason to be the one that makes your conspiracy theory seems true. But you have no evidence that this information has been intentionally withheld for reasons.

"I'm an accountant!!!!!"

He has demonstrated he knows exactly how a blind trust works. You have not, and still cannot. Your ongoing conflations and errors have been explained to you several times with citations to authoritative and reliable sources.

There was another member here, now banned, who promoted conspiracy theories and was incapable of admitting any fundamental error. It led to her eventually citing David Icke as a reliable source of information.

Stop telling lies, I said no such thing. What I said was minister could cloak their affairs by labelling them 'blind', meaning they should step away from stewardship of their company/ financial interests whilst in office to obviate any concerns about conflicts of interest.

Nope, you claimed that Sunak had put his investments in a "blind register" in order to conceal them from the public.

She has now been replaced by "Jeremy", apparently. Possibly the Chancellor of the Exchequer is trying to keep his employment options open for after the election.

Maybe s/he's a relative of Grant '4 Names' Shapps. The plot sickens...

But he wasn't obliged to. He could have just as easily declared ALL of his financial interests, whilst at the same time still appointing a steward to take over his affairs whilst in office.

But that would have been pointless if he knew what the investments were. It seems you still don't understand the use of blind trusts.

Like most of the people in these threads , our incredulity at Vixen's misuse of technical nomenclature is not from an unfamiliarity with the terminology, but a from an understanding of what it should be.

Agreed. Conspiracy theorists typically deny their critics' ability to determine the depth of their ignorance.

Some don't believe that anyone can actually be more informed than they. I've seen conspiracy theorists flatly accuse established experts of knowing no more than anyone could learn from a few minutes' Googling, and of simply being better at manipulating the dynamics of debate to come off looking better.

Others remain very confident in their ability to keep blustering their way past any correction. They think they can Google themselves to a position six steps ahead of their critics and convince everyone that, "Oh, I knew this all along; I was just testing you."

And still others believe they can pass off ignorant say-so as a mere difference in terminology. "'Blind register' what they called it at my school/parish/neighborhood," etc. But in fact the confusion arises because this is the conspiracy theorist's first encounter with a concept for which they clearly do not know the right words.

The blind register being the Ministerial Code Registers of Interest in which Sunak registered his interests as being blind. 'Blind' being what it says on the Ministerial Code Registers of Interest under Sunak.

No.

You said Sunak's interests were in a "blind register," which was your odd and ongoing conflation of a blind trust and the register of interests.

This means, on the Ministerial Register, it has to be registered as being 'blind'. A blind arrangement still has to be registered.

False, and I provided appropriate documentation to establish that you are wrong about this.

But that would have been pointless if he knew what the investments were. It seems you still don't understand the use of blind trusts.

No, it was his CHOICE. He already knew what his interests were before stepping away!

So now we are supposed to believe he has no idea how things are performing and that his steward honourably never consults with him to give him a clue. Because Sunak is naturally Honourable. He went to Winchester. Just accept he is a good egg.

The minsterial register of interests isn't blind. If it was, the ministers wouldn't be able to declare their interests.

I made no such conflation and at no time did I claim Sunak himself was registered as blind other than as on said register.

That's how a blind trust works, yes. You're the one accusing Sunak of piercing the veil of blindness to understand which interests he must corruptly try to protect. The burden of proof is yours to show that he is doing this. Instead you're begging the question.

The Register is not blind but Sunak has listed his business interests as 'blind'. That is what it says if you look on the Register under Sunak's name.

Here what you posted:

You were clearly claiming that "the Ministerial Code Registers of Interest" was a "blind register".

ETA: There's still time for you to delete that one, but it's too late because it's already been quoted.

Yes, here https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...sts-december-2023-html#prime-ministers-office is listed a blind trust as part of Sunak's financial interests as of December, and which interest no longer appears on the current authoritative list (April 2024). The ability of ministers to voluntarily list blind trusts is new since last July.

This is not the "blind register," and there is no requirement to register blind trusts: "The list includes financial interests held by a minister that are relevant, or may be perceived to be relevant, to their ministerial portfolio. It is not therefore a register of all financial interests."
