Cont: Luton Airport Car Park Fire III

Not open for further replies.
I have just started a thread about an article by George Monbiot about his meeting a conspiracy theorist (he prefers conspiracy fantasist, as he points out that there are well documented conspiracies)
I read his piece and have adopted “conspiracy fictions”.

There's also a fuel return line back to the tank.
My last works van also had a fuel cooler in the return line, It got knocked off going over a speed ramp which was fun.
Lucky it wasn't an EV van, or it would have destroyed everything within a 5 block radius!!!!
:D
(and of course no carpark ever has speedbumps, so it would never have happened in a car park...)
Double :D:D

Vixen shows that as usual she has no idea about modern commonrail diesels...
They have an electric fuel pump in or near the fuel tank, which sends diesel through a high pressure fuel line from the back (tank) to the front (engine)- should this line be punctured for any reason it will sent a spray of atomised diesel shooting out...

This is how any fuel-injected engine's fuel system works, although you can have multistage pumps like we use in rocket propellant feed systems. This is what I alluded to earlier when talking about a compromised fuel system. "Jets of flame" is not a dispositive observation. Nor is lay interpretation of that sufficient evidence to dispel a finding by competent authority to the contrary.

As for the Prime Minister, I am shocked, SHOCKED, at the idea that he or his family could have anything whatsoever to do with Tata JLR investments in their tax havens and blind registers. SHOCKED!!! The idea is definitely cloud cuckoo land.
Vixen: how do you invest in a tax haven?

As you may be aware, she probably means "tax shelter."

@Vixen: In addition to the above, this is at least the second time you've referred to blind trusts (or blind management arrangements) as "blind registers" and claimed that their purpose is to allow politicians to hide their investments from the public, after you've been repeatedly corrected on both points. Is it really surprising that people would question whether you're actually a competent accountant, as you claim?

Further, here's something that I found when I was looking up the UK Ministerial Code. This report was published when Sunak was Chancellor. From the Cabinet Office, 27 April 2022:

Advice from the Independent Adviser on Ministers' Interests about the Chancellor of the Exchequer's outside interests

1. I have been asked by the Prime Minister [Boris Johnson] to advise on the Chancellor’s adherence to the requirements of the Ministerial Code in respect of his declarations of interest. While I have hitherto been satisfied with the Chancellor’s adherence to the requirements of the Ministerial Code, I have approached this exercise with an open mind and reviewed the material held by the office of Independent Adviser as well as requesting further information from HM [Her Majesty's] Treasury and the Chancellor. . . .

The blind management arrangement

13. Blind management arrangements are longstanding mechanisms for protecting ministers in the handling of their interests. They ensure Ministers are not involved in decisions on the management, acquisition or disposal of items in the arrangement and do not have live knowledge of the contents of such arrangements. The Chancellor has confirmed that he does not have live knowledge of the contents of the arrangement nor influence or control over the management of his investment. I am therefore satisfied that the existence of such an arrangement does not give rise to a conflict of interest. The Chancellor’s actions cannot be said to be coloured with any knowledge of the impact that it might have on his personal interests and ministerial office does not preclude holding of financial or other assets per se. This arrangement therefore represents the ‘alternative steps’ as set out in paragraph 7.7 of the Ministerial Code. . . .

Infosys Shareholding

24. I have also considered Ms Murty’s existing shareholding in Infosys Limited, an Indian multinational information technology company of which Ms Murty’s father was a founder. I am satisfied that this shareholding has been properly declared.

25. Whilst Infosys Limited has contracted with certain organisations in the wider UK public sector, they have not contracted with HM Treasury during the time that the Chancellor has held ministerial office in the department. No conflict of interest, real or perceived, has therefore arisen between this interest, held by Ms Murty, and the Chancellor’s public duties as a Minister of the Crown. In these circumstances, and taking into account Ms Murty’s rights to privacy, it has not been considered necessary for this interest to be specifically published in the respective Lists of Ministerial Interests.

Conclusions

26. I advise that the requirements of the Ministerial Code have been adhered to by the Chancellor, and that he has been assiduous in meeting his obligations and in engaging with this investigation.

So please explain to us again, Vixen, exactly how Sunak knows that he has shares in Tata JLR, and that he can just give Infosys a big government contract whenever he feels like it.

The older diesels only had a low pressure line running from the tank to the injector pump and basically relied on a vacuum to pull the fuel from the tank, but these have long since been relegated to history (my 96 Mercedes has such a system, but by 99 it had gone the way of the dodo with the Hilux having a high pressure system with a tank pump...

(even the Merc was old hat by 96, it was almost the last year they made that particular model, having been made since the early 1980's basically unchanged)

Was it the W124 (E Class)? The last great Merc (before the accountants ruined them). Best car I ever owned and my first PCP, back in the '90s.

In general, pumps can blow much harder than they can suck. And all pumps are limited to a certain quantity by which they can raise the pressure from inlet to discharge. In rockets, we often rely on tank ullage pressure, and then on two stages of impeller-type pumps. In airplanes we often employ fuel boost pumps.

In automotive design, especially for high-performance vehicles, the industry is switching to injecting fuel directly into the combustion chamber rather than into the intake tract. This requires much higher injector pressure (i.e., > 10 MPa), since the injector must now fully atomize the fuel and cannot rely on natural atomization during flow down the manifold. Practically this requires a two-stage pump system. The low-pressure side still operates at 300-500 kPa, which is around what we used for manifold injectors at the rail.

There simply is no such thing as a non-pressurized fuel system anymore in a modern hydrocarbon-fueled passenger vehicle. You either have injector inlet pressure being created in the tank with the pump we've been using for decades, or inlet pressure created by boosting fuel delivery pressure in the engine compartment from the standard tank pump to the very high injector pressure.

If a vehicle's ICE engine is running, the notion that it cannot produce jets of flame is absurd.

It looks like a fire to me.

Nobody says it shows a plastic tank explosion, so that doesn't appear to be a useful observation.

Wait. What are you claiming about the Liverpool Echo?

Tell us a little about what you imagine these "blind register" things are, please.

Short for Ministerial Codes register of interest, where a minister will claim a blind interest.

Because you have told so many lies, including a great many assertions of your personal expertise and experience, most of which were immediately belied by literally incredible claims that would never have been made by someone who actually possessed the claimed expertise and experience, you will have to forgive us for being a bit skeptical about the "hundreds of millions of pounds" you have saved UK taxpayers.

Citation please.

Can't find anything? Thought not.

Not what the post you were replying to was about, if you had bothered to read it properly. You have been implying a conspiracy to cover it up.

I doubt anyone is covering it up. The matter of the administration is in the hands of Grant Thornton who expect to put Buckingham Group into compulsory liquidation in the near future. Creditors, and that might well include the car insurance companies or even Luton airport owners, together with possibly the government if public indemnity had to be paid out, can all make a claim. It'll all depend on what assets it has left.

There have been numerous citations to, and discussions of, your non-credible claims to expertise in all the threads in which you participate. I have several times in this thread indicated when you have purported expertise on subjects you have previously disclaimed expertise in. That you routinely ignore all such indications is not evidence they do not exist, nor does it oblige others to remind you of them now that it's suddenly in your rhetorical advantage to be told of them.

Well, that's what you get if you rely on outdated sources. The current edition is the 20th.

I am relieved it's an older version. ISTM instead of understanding nuance, the latest just seems to be a direct translation into modern English with little understanding of what the original author was eloquently conveying.

So you meant a blind trust, which has been declared on the register of members interests. Which nobody in the world calls a blind register because that would imply it was itself some kind of register.
