Do you really not understand the difference? If this is the standard of reading comprehension a Middlesex County Council education gives you, it's a good thing they were abolished in 1965.

It is a non sequitur designed to mislead readers into believing it is quite commonplace for a car park to burn down because b follows logically from a, his 'a' being a complete non-sequitur to his b.

Middlesex still exists.

One of these things is not like the other.

You have not shown any evidence that anyone has made any assumptions about the driver's character, nor have you explained why you think their character has any bearing on the cause or spread of the fire.

And snipping out the part of my post that points out that it is untrue that "all" we have been told is that it wasn't an electric vehicle is at least careless, if not outright dishonest.

Smartcooky did not make the embellishment that you accuse him of. Your reading comprehension has let you down, and it might benefit you to read his post again. Nor does your "ipso facto" conclusion follow from smartcooky's post.

It is dishonest to insinuate that I am demanding information about the driver when it is other posters who are insisting that Hopkinson must have got his information the vehicle was a diesel from the driver himself.

Oh and I have NOT snipped any of your post. If it was snipped that is because of the software and not anything I did.

He reads out a ready prepared statement that the lawyers have passed through the junior minister that is responsible for the fire brigade, likewise the bods at the police.

Do you really believe he wrote all of that on the back of an envelope and ad libbed his way through?

Do you have any idea what experience and competence is required to become Chief Fire Officer? Do you really think he wouldn't be capable of extemporising a quick statement to the press saying that the evidence so far showed the fire started in a diesel?

Nobody has claimed that Middlesex no longer exists, though as an historic county it's been subsumed into Greater London. It was pointed out that Middlesex County Council no longer exists.

I'm not "insinuating" anything, I posted two quotes of your own words and pointed out that they were inconsistent.

Which posters have "insist[ed] that Hopkinson must have got his information the vehicle was a diesel from the driver himself"?

You seem unable to understand nuance. Hopkinson carefully qualified his statements, which you, and others immediately took to mean 'confirmed' when he clearly stated 'as of this stage'.

At least you're consistent in your faulty comprehension of the English language.

Mojo was clearly stating that Middlesex County Council was abolished in 1965. If you really think he was saying that Middlesex was abolished then, that's just more evidence that your education was apparently lacking.

I am not expecting any information about the driver, I was questioning why people assume the driver is of good character and has been cleared by the police as such within two hours of the fire being extinguished.
Reversing the burden of proof. I see. So it wasn't a complaint that the driver's identity has not been publicised. It was a demand that everyone else justify any presumption of innocence they might permit that person. That's weird. And it really did look like you were just complaining that his details had not been released.

Do you think you could concentrate for one second on a single topic? We're talking here about your assertion that Hopkinson would be incapable of making the statement he did without having it passed down from the Government.

The confirmation came later, but somehow you choose not to acknowledge the reality of that statement.

The crux of so many, many posts across a number of threads in this subforum. Dunning Kruger denizens of course have very little idea. It is a scary world that they inhabit.

So what if MCC was technically abolished 1965? People still carried on with the tripartite system until it was phased out in the '70's.

Your persistent claims to have better English language comprehension than myself comes across as insecurity.

No. You made a claim, back up the claim with specific posts as evidence.

You seem to forget you've been caught doing this sort of lying before, wherein someone asks you for evidence of your claim and you give a very vague direction of where to look. When someone actually looks, they inevitably find that you've lied.

Support your claims with direct evidence.

Non sequitur again. You made a rebuttal to a claim no one had made. People pointed out that this was very poor reading comprehension on your part.
Your persistent claims to have better English language comprehension than myself comes across as insecurity.

Oh god the irony again.

No Vixen, people pointing out that your reading comprehension is poor based on what you post is not them being insecure, it is them pointing out that your reading comprehension is poor. That, or you're deliberately twisting what people say, are the only possible reasons for your posts in this thread.

It was an aside by Mojo, but you clearly misinterpreted the meaning of it, as you had the statement earlier about the prevalence of fires in cars. It is just more evidence that you appear to be incapable of understanding simple English.
Your persistent claims to have better English language comprehension than myself comes across as insecurity.
I have made no such claim.

From any news outlet as of 10/11 October 2023: "The fire service declared a major incident at 9.38pm on Tuesday."

Perhaps you did not realise it was a current affairs issue?

Major incident is not the same thing as major national incident.

Evidence it was a major national incident. That word is very important.
