Merged Protests disrupt college campuses / Campus Protests

Meanwhile the PM of Israel called for genocide against the people of Gaza, as revenge for 10-7. He then said Israel will enact policies of genocide, by allowing in only the bear minimum amount of aid. 70% of Israelis said NO aid should be allowed in.

Another Israeli politician called for nukes to be used on Gaza.

Another called for the Arabs to be expelled to Africa.

Why aren't we condemning their words?

Birthrates and immigration. Hopefully that majority will not happen in my lifetime, as I'd consider an Islamic-majority Europe the end of civilisation.

Look at the state of the world where Islam has become dominant.

Do you mean like the Middle East and Africa? Do you think perhaps that has more to do with the legacy of imperialism than a specific religion?

Folks let's keep this thread dedicated and strictly on-topic for the campus disturbances, otherwise it will get closed as there are plenty other threads to discuss the broader issues..

"We are Hamas!!"

"Netanyahu, we charge you with genocide!!!"

"No more money for Israel's crimes."

"We will free Palestine within our lifetime."

"Say it loud and say it clear... liberation is here."

"Free, Free Palestine."
"From the sea to the river, Palestine will live forever."

"Columbia, you will see, all our people will be free."

"It is right to rebel... NYPD can go to hell."

"It is right to rebel... Israel can go to hell."

"Intifada revolution...There is only one solution!"

NONE of these are anti-Jewish, at all. Repugnant? Sure. Ugly and hateful? Maybe.

Bigoted against specifically Jews for being Jews? Nope.

Folks need to stop being dishonest and stop weaponizing anti-Semitism.

Its a disgusting smack upon the victims of REAL anti-Semitism, aka the Holocaust, Pogroms, Inquisition, Crusades.

The Boy who cried Wolf must not become a Jew.

Let's get something straight here. #1 I am a Jew so I say this from the heart.

Israel IS and HAS committed terrible crimes, and people have the RIGHT to speak out against these crimes. With great anger and disgust.

All these folks making believe that angry and forceful repudiation of Israel's many crimes=Nazism and anti-Semitism, are dishonest, ignorant pigs. Playing games with history. They suck.

Are there some statements among the protesters that are in fact anti-Jew? Absolutely. And they must be called out and drowned out.

Like this obvious Nazi pig:

Pro-Israel protesters trying to invade and disrupt the anti-Israel protest? Why should I feel sympathy for them?

There's no indication they were Pro-Israel protesters. True, they could have been lying and were really wrapped in Israeli flags. That video has some real Melissa Click energy.

I see a lot of dishonesty going around both sides right now.

Jerry Coyne's commentary on claims that someone managed to get into the mailing list for the overarching protest organisation.

Yay! It’s the University of Chicago’s turn to experience pro-Palestinian pandemonium! Tents on the quad! Occupation of buildings! I was feeling left out since the kiffeyeh-clad and Hamas-loving members of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) hadn’t shown up here for a couple of weeks, but I did predict that they were up to something big. At first I thought it would be a demonstration during convocation, which is on June 1, but it turns out I was a month too late: the demonstrations are apparently planned for May 1 (May Day!).

This information, which of course could be erroneous but looks real, was obtained by someone who infiltrated an SJP chatgroup here, and dug up a lot of information about their plans. The details are given in an article in the conservative student paper here, The Chicago Thinker, I’ll give the text and some revealing screenshots:

How many people are saying this? Is this the common sentiment of those protesting or is it a small number of extremists who don't represent the rest?

The latter, but people only remember the extremists.
That is the problem, one nutcase can make everybody look bad.

My Mom grew up in the SF Bay Area in the Sixties, and according to her what we areseeint today would be second page news back then, compared to some of the protests of that era.

I hate that I have to bring up The FPDJT in this thread too, but he did say something about it today that I found jaw-dropping. "Charlottesville was a peanut compared to this."
