Menzies is claimed to have obtained £6,500 from party staff to pay “some bad people" who locked him in a flat and the money was reimbursed from campaign funds.

I'm sure James Daly has been on the phone calling Greater Manchester Police asking them to investigate this.

The what now??

This is for Norman Alexander, in particular who's expressing what manu of us in the UK have been thinking for a long time:

Mark Menzies had previously resigned from the government in 2014 after the Mirror reported that he'd paid a Brazilian rent boy for mephedrone. But we shouldn't rush to judgement, because like this occasion, he denied that too - but still resigned.

It is traditional to resign if you have been accused of something and as a result public support for the party would decline.
Your fellow MPs would want you gone incase the reputational damage to the party of you remaining hit their reelection chances.

What we might be seeing is the fact that many Tories have given up. Lots have announced retirement, the rest are busy looking for new jobs they can start later in the year.

Just to move things from the obvious hilarity of Mark Menzies and his latest example of getting caught. Shame how things keep happening to the same person...

In other Tory news, we received our mayoral election gubbins the other day. The Tory candidate is called such in the list of candidates, however, in his blurb there is absolutely no mention of his Tory-dom nor the party in any way, manner or form. Odd, that.

Nor does it mention that he comes across as what might be called "a bit of a twat" when having to deal with members of the public as a member of a council committee: he was, like several of his colleagues, very rude to Carrot Flower Queen when she spoke at a planning committee meeting. Odd, that...

Saw a bit of the debate last night. He seemed to have a face you wouldn't tire of slapping. Obviously I come with a heavy bias but the labour candidate seemed to be the only one who would have been able to get dressed and travel to the studio without the help of their carer.

I challenge others match the people below to their party. [IMGw=800]https://www.hexham-courant.co.uk/resources/images/17826961.jpg?type=mds-article-962[/IMGw]

You have in alphabetical order

Conservative
Green
Independent
Labour
Liberal
Reform

I'll pass on the quiz element, as I know who is who.

However, we have long thought that Mr Trying-To-Hide-He's-A-Tory does indeed have a very slappable face, even before he starts talking, then you want to pause to shove sweaty socks in his gob.

Mark Menzies has lost the Conservative whip.

You would think he of all people would know where his whip was.
Weren't they expected to provide their own tools?

Menzies is claimed to have obtained £6,500 from party staff to pay “some bad people" who locked him in a flat and the money was reimbursed from campaign funds.

Starmer has suggested an investigation.

How did you do?

Got one wrong, confused the liberal with one of the independents.

The answer in the spoiler doesn't match the number of people in the photo.

So it is true.

Immigrants are indeed doing the jobs that absolutely no resident is prepared to do.

I know that an alcohol addiction and regular use of rent boys is probably quite expensive, but you'd have thought that Menzies would have saved something of the nearly million pounds he's been paid as an MP. Put a few quid away for a rainy day.

When I read the headline I initially thought that "dog drunk" must be a particular degree of drunkenness, maybe slightly short of "blind drunk".

You know you've got problems when you even need to get a dog drunk, still could be worse, at least the poor animal wasn't being rohypnoled by James Cleverly.
