Cont: Luton Airport Car Park Fire part II

Status
Not open for further replies.
Further to the Gatwick Airport car park fire some weeks ago, which destroyed at least eleven vehicles. If you recall the cause was given as 'accidental ignition' with no further details given and we have heard nothing since. The Gatwick north terminal car park is merely an open field one-level car park.

See here at 9:12, this guy has had it confirmed the fire was indeed caused by a Tesla EV and at 9:44 he claims he's been informed by a 'fire marshall' that 'word has come from above' to 'embargo' any news of electric car fires, see 9:44, and that this embargo has extended to New York with a reference to the New York Post, 10:44.

The question is, 'Why?'

No, the question is "Why are you posting this laughable drivel?".

Seriously - "Some bloke said to me ..." ???

Here you go. At circa 2:47 this firefighter guy explains this bus was converted from diesel to electric.

...and speaking of electric bus fires, in which various people expressed scepticism that the issue was the lithium battery but was instead, the HVAC system, the guy, above, discusses this at about 5:47, and confirms that 1,800 electric BYD buses were indeed withdrawn, which you also disputed, claiming you would have known about the tfl ones.

Which is still not what I asked for.

You claimed individuals could convert their diesel cars to hybrids. Present your evidence.

What 'tests' faced by the ones on this forum? As people know, I have been very harshly treated, far worse than anybody else, and this is largely due to my having a different opinion in a murder case on a different thread. A poster here even reposted stuff from that thread in an attempt to discredit because some people really resented I had a different opinion from themself as to the murderer. But what person of noble worth is going to change an opinion simply because of bullying? Not I.

No you haven't. Stop whining.

Irrelevant to the point you wanted to prove, which was that someone might convert a diesel Range Rover to a hybrid. You have consistently failed to find a single example.

No. Your legendary attention to detail fails again. He does not say withdrawn. He says recalled. This did not mean the buses were taken out of service, as discussed at tedious length previously. Nor does he dispute the fault was with the HVAC system, he just notes the fire was at the rear of the bus where the battery is also located.

The video only confirms what we have already discussed. Why did you bother to post it?

The question is, 'Why?'

The question is, "Why are you bringing in a completely different fire when this thread is about the Luton Airport carpark fire?"

The fire started in a diesel car.

What 'tests' faced by the ones on this forum?

Hundreds of pages of debate.

As people know, I have been very harshly treated, far worse than anybody else, and this is largely due to my having a different opinion in a murder case on a different thread.

Your claims have been treated appropriately according to the evidence and logic you put into them. It's not merely your having a different opinion. It's your inability to support that opinion with anything except your obviously ignorant say-so.

But what person of noble worth is going to change an opinion simply because of bullying? Not I.

People ennoble themselves by facing facts, even if that means changing their opinions.

You have a bee in your bonnet about conspiracy theorists. I get that. But don't let it invade your life to see everything as a conspiracy theory.

Check your own headgear; it's a veritable apiary. You're the one deploying one conspiracy theory after another—often incompatible ones—for practically every discussion you have at this forum. Then you complain when people point out that's what you do.

Sometimes a thing is a fact.

Facts are not your friends.

That might surely cancel out any advantages to be gained on annual road tax calculated by CO2 emissions. So instead you have to pay road tax on any excess car weight even though your emissions are now zero.

Well, it's one option. Vehicle tax for EVs at zero means a loss of revenue for the government as more and more drivers switch to EVs (on top of the loss of fuel tax). One way they are addressing this is to raise vehicle tax for EVs from next year to £180 a year (from the second year of registration onwards). A weight-based tax would also make some sense, since the greater the weight, the greater the wear on the roads.

In case anyone didn't get it, Vixen is claiming we are all being big meanies to her because of her position on the interminable Amanda Knox threads. No, really.

Vixen, how many people in your multitude of conspiracy garbage current events threads that were mysteriously moved to conspiracies posted in those threads? I did but only after being exposed to you elsewhere. LondonJohn did I think...anyone else?

To make it clear Vixen, no, you aren't being treated badly because of your views on Knox. You're not being treated badly at all.

I suppose that to a conspiracy theorist, everything looks like a conspiracy.

The big elephant in the room is why did the Luton Airport Car Park collapse? The Liverpool ECHO one didn't...

"I know how to analyze structural failures in fire scenarios."

Tell it like it is. Tell it straight. Stop skirting around the issue.

"Don't question my assumptions."

If it was the culprit, then what can be seen in the picture closely resembles a Jaguar Land Rover vehicle of some sort

"I am proficient at identifying cars."

and the flames being bright crimson and literally jetting outwards, with white and grey smoke and from its lower left position in the vehicle certainly points to a lithium-ion battery fire and not to the black smoke fire one would expect from diesel or tyres.

"I am proficient in photographic analysis and fire dynamics."

In addition, the fire was in an early stage and if a diesel or petrol fire could have easily been put out by firefighters within ten minutes.

"I know how to fight fires."

...one can't help wondering if the whole coyness is to do with protecting the Tata brand and its recent £1,200bn [iirc] grant (=it doesn't have to ever pay it back even if it goes bust, as at the Tata steelworks in Port Talbot) to set up a million-ha lithium car battery factory in the UK.

"I'm not a conspiracy theorist."

There is no law in the USA that requires winter tyres...

"I'm an expert on driving in the United States."

Secondly, if your car has lights on 'automatic' they will switch off when you switch off the engine or the start button. If the electrics have caught fire, then one would expect all lights to fuse...

"I'm an expert in the design of vehicle electrical circuits."

the electric fire is likely to short circuit.

Explain how a fire short circuits.

Thirdly, an EV can burn to temperatures up to 2,000ºC, concrete spalls at temperatures over 500ºC.

"I'm an expert in the response of concrete to high temperatures."

Fact: the concrete at Luton Airport car park didn't just spall, the rebars deformed and the concrete seems to have melted, or at least fallen through because of lack of support. This did not happen at the Liverpool ECHO car park fire.

"I'm proficient in structural engineering and failure analysis."

Fourthly, yes a firefighter will be trained to know of the different types of fire.

"I'm an expert in firefighter training."

It is weird how addicted people are to not knowing or wanting to wait until the authorities tell them what they should surely be able to discern for themselves.

It is weird how some people are addicted to their own delusions of competence.

The question is, 'Why?'

A random YouTuber claims a "fire marshall" told him this? Well that's almost as convincing as a bloke down the pub told him. Must be true. Stands to reason, dunnit?

The question though is, if the "word has come from above" to suppress news of EV fires, is that from above Gatwick or above New York? Or is it above both? You know what's above both? Aliens. It's obvious when you think about it. This fire marshall has just let slip that we're secretly governed by aliens. Why are you fretting about trivia like some battery fires when we're in the middle of a full blown alien invasion?

Logic test: does the premise "Oregon law requires drivers to use or carry traction tires or chains when driving in winter conditions on any highway in the state" prove the proposition "throughout the United States there are no regulations that legally require you to have winter tires" to be false? Why or why not?

From what I could see, this only relates to where a road is otherwise closed and a lighted sign informs drivers what they must do if that lighted sign is on (i.e., chain up the wheels or change to friction tyres because of snow hazard). It's hardly all season.

You failed that logic test. Oregon law requires drivers to use or carry traction tires or chains on the signed roads throughout the specified season, regardless of whether those signs are lighted. (Most are not lighted.)

Myriad may have expected you to fail that logic test in a different way. You failed it by asserting multiple non-facts.

Yes. Utah requires snow tires or chains on several highways near my city when snowfall is heavy. Maybe you should stop pretending you know what things are like in the United States.

Oregon law requires snow tires or chains to be carried throughout the season, regardless of whether it is snowing or has been snowing or is expected to snow anytime soon. I warned an out-of-state truck driver about this. He ignored my warning, was stopped for a routine tire/chains check in perfectly clear weather, and fined $500 when found not to be carrying chains.

I did eventually.

I avoided the Knox thread for many years as the victim's brother John was a friend and colleague and it was all a bit close. By the time I dipped a toe in it was clear the guilter side had long since dwindled to a small remnant fixated only upon not admitting their obvious error.

I don't follow the Knox thread, and I have no intention to. My assessment regarding Vixen's arguments is based entirely on exchanges I have had with her on topics within my ken in other threads. It is not because she is allegedly being bullied by others in other threads, or that she has been given a bad reputation by them. Her reputation with me is entirely of her own construction.
