The real problem here was that Sunak failed again to take a grip on the situation yet again. He desperately tried to dodge until Badenoch broke ranks and even then his response was poor, and he couldn't stop other ministers and MPs giving diverging opinions.

I am not, repeat not, a big fan of Oliver Cromwell. but I think a lot of what he had to say when he dismissed the Long Parliament could apply today:

It's Paul Staines so it's immediately suspect. The Guido post has a screenshot rather than the clip, and in the linked source he actually says "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter", the clip is very tightly edited to this phrase so I'd be very interested to know what the next sentence(or two) were.

That makes sense. IMO there's a huge difference between calling Hamas freedom fighters and recognising that other people may consider them freedom fighters.

And of course it's a dangerous "whataboutism" if you don't want the Tories to hand back the 10 million.

Plus, Hamas are also the governing body for Gaza and at least were officially recognised as that by Israel.

One man's terrorist organisation is another man's health, education, policing and social infrastructure supplier.
