It's ok, Lord Marland says Hester isn't racist because he does business in countries with black majorities.

When 'I have black friends' is too high a bar,

He added Mr Hester "does a lot of business in Jamaica, he does business in Malaysia, in Bangladesh and places like that so he's not a racist."

'He's can't be racist, he owns sweatshops'.

Well it seems that Kemi Badenoch has denounced the remarks as racist, so you know they were pretty bad. Also leaving aside the racism and misogyny wishing for an MP to be killed three years after the murder of Jo Cox should be more than enough reason for any sane party to say thanks but no thanks to any future donations, but of course this is the Torys so that won't happen.

As ever when the Tories are wittering about extremism, "fighting words" and threats to MPs they do not mean that to apply to themselves.

As someone mentioned to me today, given what Abbot is suspended for would the Tories be happy with a union leader saying ".... that looking at the Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis makes you “want to hate all Jewish men” and said the Rabbi “should be shot”, the Guardian can reveal.

Frank Hester, who has given £10m to the Tories in the past year, said in the meeting that he did not hate all Jewish men. But he said that seeing Mirvis, who is Britain’s chief Rabbi, on TV meant “you just want to hate all Jewish men because he’s there
”.

The Tory party keeps Russian money so I am fairly they are happy with racist cash.

With the usual speed and authority Number 10 has declared it was racist!

.....Comments allegedly made about Diane Abbott by a Conservative donor were "racist and wrong", Rishi Sunak's spokesperson has said...

....But later Mr Sunak's spokesperson said: "The comments allegedly made by Frank Hester were racist and wrong......

I note even though he has stated he did make the comments it is still only "allegedly" for Number 10. But lets be fair and give them another 24 hours as I'm sure they will have started to decide how they will decide what to do about making a decision about the donation.

What do you call it when you give 10 million quid to a political party, whilst receiving 400 million quid in public contracts?

Hester is a classic bully. This is more about him than Diane Abbott. His workplace is all about Hester throwing his weight around and his £10m donation shows a neediness to be in charge owing to some deep-rooted feelings of insecurity.

Diane Abbott has said and written some very stupid things, such as the claim Jews and travellers (formerly known as gypsies or Irish tinkers) didn't suffer the same levels of racism as the Black community. This, of course, is deeply offensive to those other minorities but I don't think Abbott was being racist per se, more a case of 'Considerably more discriminated against than yowwww'. In any case, each community has their own issues specific to themselves. Comparisons are odious.

I met Diane Abbott at a book launch at Waterstones Piccadilly where there was a panel including Shami Chakrabati and Abbot as a panel to discuss Lee Harper's posthumous book [or is it Harper Lee] only just then published. Whilst Abbott speaks in a didactic measured way that irritates some people, I for one was glad, as I often have trouble fully understanding public speakers for one reason or other (speaking too softly, poor enunciation, regional accent, etc). Afterwards I went to chat to the various panel members with the wine and nibbles that went with the ticket and actually, Abbott is an incredibly nice, warm person and not the blithering idiot as portrayed in the media. Anyone who drinks a mojito on the London Overground and is torn to pieces over it has my sympathy, as Abbott was.

Post Office minister Kevin Hollinrake said that the Tories would accept more money from because Hester because his apology demonstrates he isn't racist.

Failed asylum seekers are to be offered up to £3,000 to move to Rwanda under a new voluntary scheme.

The plan, first reported by The Times, is understood to be a variation of an existing voluntary returns scheme, where failed asylum seekers receive cash to return to their home country.

It will be open to anyone whose asylum claim has been rejected by the UK.

In particular it is aimed at those who cannot return to their home countries.

Business minister Kevin Hollinrake said payments for those agreeing to relocate to Rwanda would amount to a "good use of public money".
