Cont: Roe v Wade overturned - this is some BS part II

Mmm. I was mistaken, then, or I was repeating a mistaken claim. I failed to properly fact check this time, either way. On a quick check of the three main terms in the claim, I came up with this -

Not the same thing as claimed, but still relevant to the discussion on IVF.
Absolutely. And most of the 1987 diktat was not really supported by the 1867 pronouncement.

Remember during the 1960 election when both Dems and Republicans were petrified that Catholic John F. Kennedy would let himself be influenced/controlled by his religion or the Pope?

Here, try the APNews article.

Thanks.

Do like how Trump after greasing the slippery slope now says that it isn't what was meant to happen. (And the thing is for his supporters it will not be seen as his fault.) Hopefully however it will hurt such co-greasers like Cruz.

Meanwhile... in France....

...the people have just enshrined absolute abortion rights into the constitution!

France makes abortion a constitutional right
France has become the first country in the world to explicitly include the right to abortion in its constitution.

Parliamentarians voted to revise the country's 1958 constitution to enshrine women's "guaranteed freedom" to abort.

The overwhelming 780-72 vote saw a standing ovation in the parliament in Versailles when the result was announced.

President Emmanuel Macron described the move as "French pride" that had sent a "universal message".

Mon Dieu!

As this supposedly "freedom of religion, separation of Church and State" government delves farther and farther into religious ideology, a country officially Catholic give more freedom to its female citizens to make their own decisions over their bodies. This could be a hilarious Monty Python skit if it weren't so pathetic.

I am sure that there is not a sufficient majority in the U.S. for amending the constitution to enshrine the right to abortion, but just for interest, what would be needed?

To borrow a simple summation from here -

The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures.

<snip>

A proposed amendment becomes part of the Constitution as soon as it is ratified by three-fourths of the States (38 of 50 States).

France is officially Catholic? Are you sure about that?

It was. But it isn't today. Catholicism was once the state religion of France and continues to be the primary religion in French society.
Today the government itself is officially secular.
