No masterplan that Donny made. His lawyers and handlers know exactly what he is like, they have the cunning plans, and they are using Donny's behaviour to try to influence the court proceedings. Donny himself has no idea; he's just bitching and moaning about his own fate as usual, in the most inappropriate places. So, in that sense, it is "Trump being Trump".
 
The trial is the second related to Carroll's allegations and Trump's subsequent denials. In May 2023, a jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation in a separate case, awarding Carroll $5 million in damages. That case focused on comments Trump made about Carroll in 2022, when he denied the abuse and called Carroll's claim a "con job" and "hoax."

The current case is centered on different comments Trump made in 2019, remarks the judge has already ruled were defamatory. The trial is focused solely on the damages Carroll should be awarded. Her attorneys are seeking $10 million for reputational harm, as well as other unspecified punitive damages.

"It is no secret that if you make explosive allegations against a sitting president, people react, both good and bad," Habba said.

Habba also said that far from having her reputation ruined, Carroll has gained new standing among a group of prominent Trump critics.

Sorry - what in the linked article refers to her filing evidence? Maybe I'm just being dense, but I didn't really see anything like that. Quote maybe?

ETA: Found this article which lays out what I THINK you were addressing. Basically, she started reading from a document that was not in evidence and was scolded multiple times by the judge.

That's the link to the article that goes through each and all of her mistakes. It is a really funny read, she comes across as someone who has merely watched a few courtroom dramas on the telly. Her lack of preparation is also very telling of the quality of her work. By the way I am assuming since Trump has employed her that she is an attractive looking lady, one who Trump thinks wouldn't mind if he grabbed her pussy?
 
The mystery to me is how he's avoided a night in the cells on a charge of contempt of court.

Never threaten a consequence that is not reasonable or that you will not follow through on: I learned that my first year of teaching. I had to teach my husband that same rule when we had our daughter.

As for attractive, I think she sort of is, but she doesn't seem like Trump's type (tall, blonde, well endowed. Like Ivanka).

It is, but some of those are cheap shots, to be honest. Skirting a ruling in limine and drawing an objection happens all the time. Especially with a hostile witness, you try to get away with as much as you can until the judge says no.

The rest are hilarious, though. Not knowing how to introduce evidence. Not knowing how to lay the foundation of a document in evidence. These are extremely elementary shortcomings.

I do believe the way she dresses that emphasizes her breasts does indeed fit with his 'type'.

Trump likes attractive women beyond the large breasted blondes he married. I think Habba is more than attractive enough it played into his choice to have her sitting next to him in court and following him around in public. Clearly her demonstrated attorney skills and reputation played little role, if any, in his decisions about retaining council.

Also possible is the firm she works for (is associated with?) put her forward to Trump as one of their key lawyers. And from the looks of it they are all getting millions from whatever PAC I just read about that is footing the bill.

I cannot understand who is putting all this money up for his legal bills. I get it where some of it is coming from, but a bottomless pit?
