nothing funded by advertising money is a free speech platform. not compatible
Let us design this ideal platform.
As long as Elon deadnames his children, we won't be worried about deadnaming the app. It's not a person.By the way, why does everyone insist on deadnaming X?
It doesnt worry me at all, but left wing activists will be enraged.
The hundreds of podcasts are fromposy parker, who you've listened to hundreds of podcasts from freely available on basically any website podcasts are available i'm assuming, is complaining not about being silenced but that they're not being paid a chunk of that sweet ad revenue. i also googled them to try to find their website where they could talk about whatever they want, and i couldn't find one. but those cost money, so that makes sense, better to get it for free if you can. which they do. is posy parker another one who think their free speech is being infringed upon by not collecting ad revenue, even though they're still allowed to say whatever they want, because they don't want to follow the site rules?
well hopefully musk can fix that on x
Was that directed at me?Musk has the right to let Nazis yell from his platform. That doesn't mean he deserves anything but derision for it. Do you have an opinion on that at all?
The hundreds of podcasts are from
Stella OMalley
Sasha Ayad
Helen Joyce
Debrah Soh
Stephanie Wynn
Leor Sapir
Meghan Daum
Sarah Haider
Abigail Schrier
Lisa Littman
Julia Mason
Buck Angel
And so on.
This is a cult they are railing against and Elon Musk understands.
Was that directed at me?
If so, the answer to your question is irrelevant in the context.
However, if you read my previous posts in this thread, and others about Elon Musk, you'll see my opinion of him is very low. I think his free speech stance is hypocritical: speech critical of him often seems to disappear from Twitter but other less acceptable speech seems to stay or even be encouraged. I don't mind about that though, as long as it is not lies that would damage people or incitement to violence against individuals or groups (I'm pretty sure it's not hard to find both of those kinds of speech on Twitter).
He certainly deserves derision because his speech polices are driving his principal customers away and the alleged genius that he is managed to load a barely profitable company with $13 billion of extra debt. Any fool* can see it's not going to end well.
*except one.
That's great but I was hoping for your opinion on his platforming of Nazis.
He can do what he likes within the law. If he wants to turn it into a Nazi zone it’s up to him. I think that would be a bad idea, but it’s his company. He can burn it down if he likes.
You're still dancing around it. We've established many times over that he has the right. You don't have any opinion of your own? Besides that it's a "bad idea"? That's kind of bland. Any actual thought of right or wrong here?
X is permanent like youtube. You asked me for my opinion on him platforming Nazis. In my opinion, he can platform Nazis if he likes, provided they keep within the law. It's his company to destroy as he wishes.

Which is kinda the whole point.
He not only bought a sinking company, but also saddled it with some MASSIVE debt payments from the purchase. Good luck to him to get it back on track. The fact that he seems to be a tinkerbellend (combination of Tinerbell, and the brit slang 'bellend' for a dick-head... you know... bell-shaped end of *ahem* SOMETHING) who seems to think he'll literally disappear if peoples stop talking about him for a day, also doesn't help.
It might not be as easy as "fire all moderators and let every ass-clown post on it" as it may have seemed. As with several other platforms (including YT's several waves of "adpocalypse"), it may turn out that advertisers may not want to be associated with just about every bellend on the internet.
But hey, regardless of my opinions of that (which I haven't exactly been shy about expressing before) it's still his own property to sink, if he wants to![]()
X is permanent like youtube.
