The sinking of MS Estonia: Case Reopened Part VII

No, the registered name of the company is Institut für Materialprüfung und Werkstofftechnik Dr. Dölling + Dr. Neubert GmbH.

But you weren't referring to the company in this post, you were referring to the metallurgists themselves.

Those are the findings of the Clausthal-Zellerfeld metallurgists.

Dr Dölling and Dr Neubert GmBh

I love that vixen attempts to hide behind the very minor error (miscapitalising the abbreviation) to try and hide the fact she applied it to a person as if it were a post nominal.

Hell vixen even I know what GmbH is. I deal with companies from literally all over Europe (and parts of Asia!) as part of my job and I'm a lowly wage slave.

Eta: I believe Vixen did know it wasn't a post nominal actually, I just think she thought we wouldn't know and put it as such in an attempt to impress us with the post nominal.

I have a title AND a post nominal Vixen, does that mean I'm on the same level as those you cite?

Will you please direct us to the portion of that page where it states that Braidwood received an OBE or MBE?

All I found was this:

Brian was presented with his QCB by Admiral Sir Horace Law, Commander-in-Chief Naval Home Command, in the great cabin of HMS Victory in June 1971 with the legendary MCD officer Stuart 'Jazz' Honour MBE representing the Captain of HMS Vernon.

Which is a great place for a medal ceremony any day.

The other thing I get out of this webpage is the guy started his RN career in submarines. I wonder if he's have taken this case had he known his work would be tossed in with nutter CTs about phantom subs?

For crying out loud Dr. Dölling + Dr. Neubert GmbH is the name of their metallurgy laboratories. I am not going to write out long German words.

DN is even their logo.

What rot. If Dr. Dölling + Dr. Neubert GmbH run a successful forensic metallurgy lab of Clausthal- Zellerfeld nr Braunswig, of course they are going to be highly qualified, it goes without saying.

So what is your title? 'Mr.' I am guessing...?

Pitiful. You weren't referencing their company, you were explicitly referring to the two men themselves.

The "long German words" are part of the company name. You tried to excuse your error by saying you were just typing the name of the company, and there added "GmbH" to the end for proper form.

But that's not what you were doing. You were typing the names of people, and wrongly thought the "GmbH" (however misspelled) belonged on the end of a person's name.

Braidwood was born 1937. Joined the Royal Navy 1948, so you can imagine he has had plenty of experience clearing mines and dismantling devices. I doubt the German and American forensic metallurgists, or Greg Bemis and Jutta Rabe are 'nutters', called that by people who distrust science and objective evidence.

I run a successful engineering company, and you don't care one whit.

Mark was not calling Drs. Dölling and Neubert's qualifications into question. He was calling into question your understanding of what qualifications matter. As a matter of fact, we've previously discussed that the findings of these laboratories is not in evidence. All we have is Braidwood's hearsay.

Don't be ridiculous.

Braidwood includes the Clausthal-Zellerfeld full lab reports, likewise the Brandenburg and American one.

That doesn't translate into expertise identifying damage to ships from all causes. Further, it doesn't matter how much expertise he has if he says something is an exemplary specimen of a category, yet no one else can find similar examples.

I doubt the German and American forensic metallurgists, or Greg Bemis and Jutta Rabe are 'nutters', called that by people who distrust science and objective evidence.

You're not qualified to judge the reliability of what is postured as scientific evidence.

You linked us to this source https://www.estoniaferrydisaster.net/pdf/Enclosure05.pdf which lists external reports in its table of contents but does not actually supply the reports or the briefs that prompted them. You have admitted as much in more than one post in this thread.

I previously discussed the problems associated with this the last time we discussed Braidwood's report in depth. Perhaps you would like to summarize for the group what that discussion said.

I run a successful engineering company, Vixen. Yet you have no problem ignoring the notion that I may be highly qualified, and therefore in a position to offer learned criticism of the work of other practitioners in my field. And in fact I have done so in this case. You steadfastly ignore that.

He joined the Royal Navy at age 11?
