Luton Airport Car Park Fire

You have a reading comprehension failure.

The Full Fact report very clearly says the fire brigade confirmed to them that the car was a diesel and not a hybrid, and then goes on to describe the statement you're talking about as a thing previously said to the press.

Full Fact is not the press.

It really could not be clearer that Full Fact are not restating the original press statement, they are saying the information was confirmed to them.

And it absolutely does not matter whether the cause of the fire was electrical. It very likely was. The point of contention, as you know perfectly well, is whether it was a fire caused by an EV/hybrid lithium battery. Answer: No, it was not. Confirmed unambiguously by Full Fact who sought that specific information from the fire brigade.

Full Fact were paraphraising what they thought Mr. Hopkinson said.

But if you look at his original statement he qualifies it quite considerably by use of phrases such as 'at this stage', 'there is no suggestion'. He gives the opinion it was likely a diesel fire but nowhere has he stated the name and make, so GB News was misreporting when it stated he had identified a diesel land rover.

Likewise, Full Fact clearly stated: 'OUR VERDICT' is that it was a diesel ICE car and definitely not a hybrid or EV.

They were NOT quoting Mr. Hopikinson, they were drawing their own conclusion.

As I said, I for one will await the official confirmation and will not be browbeaten into accepting the opinion of someone who cannot possibly know what the cause of the fire was at this stage.

You cannot know. The police and the fire brigade do not yet know.

Anyone who claims to know is simply offering an opinion.

But it left just enough wiggle room to insinuate it could hypothetcally have been a diesel hybrid. Which is the speck of doubt Full Fact quashed with their quite brilliant idea of simply asking the fire brigade. It was not a hybrid.

What do you mean 'insinuate'? A fire is neither good nor bad. People getting hot under the collar aren't any closer to establishing the cause. However, people have eyes and they are allowed to give an opinion as we are not China or Iran, yet.

Full Fact were paraphraising what they thought Mr. Hopkinson said.

No, they weren't. You are simply, once again, wrong. You are either mistaken or lying, again. They were passing on what they were told directly by Bedfordshire Fire Service. They then quoted what Mr Hopkinson had said, earlier.

The local fire brigade, Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, confirmed to Full Fact that the initial vehicle involved in the fire was a diesel, not a hybrid.

What is your opinion? What type of vehicle did the fire start in? Be plain.

No, they weren't. Fact checking is what they do. Not speculating. Not trying to interpret nuances in what someone might have meant. Fact checking.

They told us what the fire brigade had confirmed to them.

Then they told us about what Hopkinson had previously told the media.

They were very clearly not basing their verdict on what Hopkinson told the press, but on what the fire brigade told them when they asked them to clarify the specific point.

Read the whole article. They were paraphrasing what he did say in quotations in the narrative below their 'OUR VERDICT'.

Do you seriously believe Full Fact has the facilities to carry out a forensic examination into what caused the fire after just a few days?

They check facts. No-one knows what definitively caused the fire as of today. Full Fact checks what is being reported but then fall into their own trap of misreporting what Mr. Hopkinson actually said. AFAIAA he has given out only one press release and that is a highly qualified one.

Pathetic. Don't pretend you're the one being skeptical here. You're flatly rejecting the report of a fact-checking group who sought the specific information you're determined to pretend is in doubt.

Nobody is trying to tell you how the fire started. Nobody. The issue is what kind of car caught fire. Now we know. And you pretend we still don't know to keep your conspiracy game rolling.

I believe they have a telephone and the ability to find the fire brigade's phone number.

The issue is what caught fire, not how it caught fire.

As diesel fuel does not look like an explosion...
What explosion? Seriously, what explosion? All the video shows is a fire.

...it is slow to combust...
Yeah, like what we see.in the video.

...then the fault IMV is almost certainly an electrical one of some kind, and of course ICE cars suffer plenty of these (as per the car in Cork).
All cars and trucks are susceptible to electrical faults. The same goes for aircraft, watercraft, diesel-electric locomotives... Vehicles powered by combustible liquids are vulnerable to severe fires started by faults in their high amperage electrical systems.

So the claim by you and others that the cause of the fire has been confirmed is either a straightforward lie or an inability to understand the Beds Fore Officer's actual statement.
The chief of the Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service has unambiguously stated that it was a diesel vehicle. You are simply incapable of admitting that you are wrong, especially when it's so clearly demonstrated.

I mean that you are trying to imply there is doubt that anyone could honestly have asked the fire brigade to confirm the type of car involved or that the fire brigade could be trusted to have honestly told them.

You are certainly allowed to have an opinion, and others are allowed to have an opinion about your opinion. My opinion is your opinion is ridiculous and only serves to keep your silly game going.

You seriously thought that "self-professed garages and dealers" would self-evidently be experts on various types of vehicle fires.

I did. I also understood it. You clearly did not.
They were paraphrasing what he did say in quotations in the narrative below their 'OUR VERDICT'.
Do you seriously not understand English?
Full Fact said:
The local fire brigade, Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, confirmed to Full Fact that the initial vehicle involved in the fire was a diesel, not a hybrid.
Which part of this are you not understanding? It is plain English. They spoke to Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, who confirmed the initial fire was in a diesel car.

The next paragraph talks about the situation before that confirmation came:
Andrew Hopkinson, chief fire officer at Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service, previously told the media: “We have no intelligence at this stage to suggest that this was anything other than an accidental fire that started in one of the vehicles that had not long arrived at the airport. It was not an EV. This was a diesel powered vehicle.
They are recapping what Andrew Hopkinson previously said; not what they are basing the comment in the preceding paragraph on. The slight element of doubt has since been removed.

Are you struggling with the fact that the information in the two paragraphs is presented in reverse chronological order?

Do you seriously believe Full Fact has the facilities to carry out a forensic examination into what caused the fire after just a few days?
Whoever suggested they did? They asked the experts, and passed on the answer they got. You're just making things up, again.

This is what Beds Fire Chief Andrew Hopkinson said in his one and only press statement as of today:

"“We don’t believe it was an electric vehicle,” Andrew Hopkinson, chief fire officer for Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said. “It’s believed to be diesel-powered, at this stage all subject to verification.” https://www.autoblog.com/2023/10/12...1500-vehicle-fire-at-london-airport-car-park/

Read it with care.

Nope. Vixen is clearly stating that the local fire brigade spokesperson lied, and that the fire brigade is obviously involved in the conspiracy cover-up.

Vixen has never seen a news event that is reported accurately. There are conspiracies everywhere. And Vixen is just the person to ferret them out, no facts required.

I did. I also understood it. You clearly did not.

Mr Hopkinson has NOT confirmed to Full Fact or anyone else the cause of the fire. When the report is available, it will be a press release available to ALL media outlets.

Full Fact did not ring up Mr Hopkinson and get a scoop.

Again, stop making things up. Andrew Hopkinson is not the only person at Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service in a position to comment on the fire. Full Fact spoke to an unnamed person at Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service and got a clear confirmation that the vehicle was a diesel.
