All right, those who were fortunate enough to go to TAM IV, give the rest of us some highlights of the magic you saw performed at the meeting.
Meanwhile, I'll just sit here and stew in my envy.

Well, I saw Mac King, :)
but couldn't make the Jamy Ian Swiss show. :(

And Randi's levitation of Ed Lu was unintentionally funny, because Dr. Lu was either too tall, or not centered correctly. Oops!

Hey, Jamy rocks!!!

And I finally saw Mac King. But Jamy was doing stuff that just blew your mind.

Brown taught me some card tricks too.

There were fewer magicians than I had hoped but Mac King was great, I had never seen him before, and Jamy was brilliant in his show.
And yes Brown taught me a trick or two as well.
The one Richard Weisman taught I am really looking forward to doing. (sorry cannot disclose the secret, forum rules) ;)

I was fortunate enough to be selected as one of the two volunteers in Jamy's show on the first night of TAM4.

I thought I was going to be sitting next to him for only about 5 minutes during a couple of card tricks... I was there for 45 minutes. The man is simply incredible - his moves are so smooth I almost couldn't believe it.

Though I suck at sleight of hand myself, I know what to look for in such moves, and Jamy was so eloquent and controlled with his movements that I couldn't catch the transitions, even though I knew he'd palmed a card or something similar. What a treat!

That and he was actually performing two shows at once - one for the two of us at the table and another for the rest of the audience.

Last, but certainly not least, Jamy was performing the Cups & Balls - it was fun when he pulled a couple of lemons out from under the cups, but then he topped off the entire routine by revealing an *open* shot glass of whiskey under the final cup!!!

THAT was cool! :)

Yes, the part where the hoop had to *stretch* to get over Ed's feet elicited a lot of chuckles from the audience, but Randi didn't skip a beat... that old pro.

Did anyone else see Jamy doing one-handed riffle shuffles? I've never seen anyone else do that before. Anyone know what that flourish is called?

It's called the "one-handed riffle shuffle." ;) Not to be confused with the even more difficult one-handed faro shuffle, which some people can actually do.

I think Penguin has a download that teaches it. (I'm not a fan of their downloads in general because many are blatant ripoffs, but that wouldn't apply to this.)
