Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

Muting isn't enough to deal with persistent, motivated aggressive trolls.

Tesla only started making money after Musk started losing interest in it. And it's still highly dependent on corporate welfare, eg the Las Vegas loop, for its profits.

And Tesla no longer dominates the electric car business the way it once did. They now have real competition.

If I had not dropped my Twitter account a long time ago, the removal of the ability to block other users alone would be enough for me to quit. I love the ability to block really annoying people.
More and more I think Twitter is going belly up much faster then most people expected.

the metamorphosis to right wing grifter will be at the next stage when he claims the deplatforming is due to the powers that be don't want a great social network so it was rigged against him.

and as it goes with these types, after this stage things start to get pretty dark and ugly as personal and legal problems mount, all caused directly by this sudden change into the right wing grifter. so, looking forward to the next stage

It seems to me, that his behaviour has continued to get more bizarre, and it makes me wonder if he is being poisoned, or perhaps is poisoning himself...

Mashable has done a report into X users and Musk's followers.

https://mashable.com/article/elon-musk-inactive-followers-whole-x-platform

"Just over 42 percent of Musk's more than 153 million followers have 0 followers. More than 40 percent have zero tweets posted on their account. Around 40 percent of Musk's followers also follow less than 10 users. This points to a few things. Many of these accounts can be fake accounts or bots."

The report is here:

To add to this, from the report:

"The median number of followers for all 153 million accounts following Musk is just one (1) single follower."

There are "around 830,000 X Premium subscribers in total".

"Musk has recently claimed that X now has more than 540 million "monthly users." If accurate, that means more than 25 percent of accounts on the platform follow Musk. And if those numbers are inflated, it means that even a larger percentage of the entire platform follows Musk. With a huge swath of Musk's 153 million followers not using the platform or perhaps not real, it seems a good portion of X's overall user base may not be so active either."

I cancelled my Twitter account months ago, but if I follow a link to the site, it shows me as logged in. I guess you can't escape.

I'm just surprised Musk hasn't made following his account automatic, compulsory, and unstoppable. And once he thinks of that I'm sure his remarks will appear larger, flashing, moving, and always on top. After all, the entire point of the app is to be a personal vanity project for the money clown, isn't it?

You have to use the 'deactivate account' option.
But it looks like a guest viewing is counted as logged in

PC Mag reporting X will begin to have subscription 'blue tick' users verify their identity by having them submit a selfie alongside a government issued ID. The process requires users to consent to X storing their information for 30 days and sharing it with AU10TIX, an identity verification company based in Israel.

I'm not a blue tick user, but, if I was, I'd definitely think twice before uploading my driver's licence or passport to a Musk owned web site.
