Cont: Musk buys Twitter II

Twitter is now allowing verified accounts to hide their verified status. A real testament to how much the "blue check" has been devalued that anyone might want to hide this badge of shame.

Users on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, can now hide the once sought-after blue checkmarks signaling their verified status.

In an update to its help center, X says subscribers can now "choose to hide your checkmark on your account." Doing so will hide the verified checkmark on a user’s profile and posts, but the icon may still appear in some places, according to the help center.

“Some features may not be available while your checkmark is hidden,” the help center also states, though it does not expand on which features may be inaccessible.

Could easily be lawfare, no idea if this org has deep enough pockets to successfully fight off this lawsuit, even if it seems overwhelmingly likely that they would win.
Have to wonder if Twitter really wants to open themselves up to discovery specifically on their recent policy changes regarding right wing hate content on the site. It's quite obvious that they have, either through lack of resources to police or as an deliberate policy, made Twitter a more welcoming place for open bigotry of various sorts. Having this explored in detail in public is probably not good for their reputation.
Oh it clearly is, and is still backfiring badly against them. Lots of support for CCDH, inclueding donations and legal assistance.
It seems like a classic MuskX tantrum, and one tht will cost him (and ihis investors) badly.

I'm assuming California especially is not a great venue for this kind of SLAPP nonsense.

Federal court.
Though there is precedent that state SLAPP laws are are substantive and therefore applicable in federal court.

In his latest bout of stupidity (so far). MuskX has sued a number of researchers at the nonprofit Centre for Countering Digital Hate who were monitoring hate speech on TwitX. Idiot boy has alleged that their work (which exposed the enormous increase in hate speech on the platform) cost the company millions of dollars of advertising revenue.
MuskX also alleges that the organisation is funded by foreign governments and media companies who view TwitX as competition. Of course no evidence for these claims is provided.

Probably a MuskX tantrum over having to take tien his giant X.

Just call him MuX.

OK, 'fess up. Who played the prank on Musk to convince him that they were a time traveler and that Twitter would evolve into a humanity-ending AI unless it was utterly destroyed?

Musk played the race card with a rant about "White Extinction>'

Once a Boer, always a Boer.

Like the Pitch Meeting for ‘It’ - “this movie’s going to be hard for people to Google”
“Oh ya, probably”.

I just tried that and lo and behold the movie is the top result for just 'it'. I thought maybe I would need to add the word 'movie' to the search prompt, but it wasn't necessary. Fwiw.

Google was probably monitoring this exchange and was just trying to be helpful.

:p

DuckDuckGo's top two hits are for the movie as well, although the Wikipedia article it links to on the right hand side bar is for Information Technology.

Considering that he actually wants to add more AI to it and have it become an "everything app" that controls most of the world's finances and whatnot... it seems to me more like he WANTS to build Skynet, not prevent it. Just presumably he couldn't buy the trademark rights to "Cyberdyne Systems", so he's naming it X instead :p

I have not quite mastered the "polishing the turd" group email myself, though mine aren't without some merit and style.

But I have worked on many a project with someone who could perform this well. Mostly independent film projects.

Sometimes it falls to a new hand, prone to cliche' and over-enthusiasm, but I have seen this quality or even better from the semi-pros I've worked with.

Which, considering this came from the top of a multi-billion dollar operation...is probably not good.

Maybe he's happy operating the Soupifier.....?
