Drag Shows!!

You do realise we are in a different universe down under?
We solve issue by issue in the apolitical southern hemisphere. Trust me, and try it with your in crowd.

We finally agree on something: you are definitely in a different universe.

Obviously I don't understand the purpose of the thread.
I see drag shows, drag, all forms of impersonation as an existential threat to children in the current age.

And there's your problem. Perhaps your view is rooted in your own prejudices.

You see in an actual intellectually honest environment you would now have to actually back this up with facts, logic... ******* reality.

Here is the problem.
You use the word hateful, and that closes the discussion in your universe.
Think of it this way. I would like to be wrong. I would like to know that same sex attracted young people can discover this themselves before the angels of mercy stop their hearts lungs and bodies developing to maturity. I would like that drag shows are always harmless fun, never lead to a child questioning to the authorities their sex identity, who never keep this query from the parents. And that there are no mistakes in gender affirming medicalisation and social transitioning.

I would be the most gullible Pollyanna since language took root and took us all into a misery unknown to even the chimps.

You've been making allegations, and failing to support them with evidence. Grow up.
I would like to be wrong, and there was no call for the women's rights parties starting up in England, New Zealand, and probably Australia. I would like drag shows for kids to be completely safe, fold up my tent and stop getting this torrent of abuse.

Then today's your lucky day: You're wrong.

Can you provide one case where a drag show harmed a child or anyone?

never lead to a child questioning to the authorities their sex gender identity

You are confusing sex with gender. They are not the same thing. Sex is biological; gender is psychological.

A child's gender identity is pretty much established by the time they're 3 according to the Mayo Clinic:

Most children between ages 18 and 24 months can recognize and label gender groups. They may identify others as girls, women or feminine. Or they may label others as boys, men or masculine. Most also label their own gender by the time they reach age 3.

Apparently, you think a drag queen reading a story to toddlers is going to make them question their gender.

And that there are no mistakes in gender affirming medicalisation and social transitioning.

Name a single thing in this world where there has never been a mistake.
Mistakes in medication have been given by nurses and doctors that have killed people, but we don't refuse to give that medication to other people because of it. My BIL's mother was given the wrong dose of radiation which ultimately led to a colostomy, but people still get radiation.

I would be the most gullible Pollyanna since language took root and took us all into a misery unknown to even the chimps.

Or...you could just be wrong.

Ok, here is the transcript. I can now hope Stella O'Malley is wrong.

She deals with girls who wish they had not had double mastectomies and testosterone to lower their voices and grow beards, and boys that had not had their puberty blocked and their testicles removed

I know Russell Brand the celebrity he
wrote about it in his book that he was
exposed to sexualized content when he
was a child and it didn't go well for
him and he writes about it very
eloquently and it's quite sad how
he was exposed and these days we need to
be more more careful than ever because
it's so easy for a kid to fall into
seeing sexualized content and it makes
them feel uneasy. You can see it in their
faces they look a little bit freaked out
and it's just nasty it's not nice and
it's beyond that, it's part of the
definition of child sex abuse to expose
a child to sexualized content that
needs to be right you know, absolutely
let's put a stop to it.
Stella O'Malley,
thank you so much for your time today
let's Tell It O'Malley psychotherapist
and director at genspect we did ask some
drag queens to come on but they refused

It's not enough to be wrong. It's not enough to be proudly wrong. It's not enough to be proudly wrong and never even argue it. Now everyone's got to have a formatting quirk as a gimmick.

Versus how many who are very happy they did and feel they saved their lives by doing so? She never mentions these 'unhappy' boys and girls in the video.

Exactly where does Brand say what you earlier claimed he did?

I posted the Stella O'Malley link where she quotes Russel Brand gender confusion after he watched drag shows as a child.

In fact, the 'sexualized content' Brand talks about aren't drag queens at all but being taken by his father to prostitutes and sex shows in Hong Kong when he was 17. So much for your claims about that. And THIS is why we research what people claim. Perhaps you should try researching credible sources that aren't just right-wing echo chamber, confirmation sites before posting.

Isn't it amazing that this is the quote Samson references? It wasn't a drag show at all. Will this information change his mind? Am I the only person who doubts it?

Also, we're talking about a 17 year old. As a 17 year old I probably would be more uncomfortable with my father taking me to a sex show more than the actual sex show. Strangely, fathers taking their sons to brothels and sex shows was more common in the past. Sort of sex education before it was taught in the schools.

Brand said that his father told him he'd taken a boy to Hong Kong but brought back a man when they were on the plane returning home.

Some men have the idea that having sex makes a boy a man. Girls who have sex, on the other hand, are just sluts.

I said I wish I was wrong.

I'm sure that is true of some men. And maybe I'm wrong about this. But my impression is that girls in general are more critical of other girls being sexual than men are.
