Drag Shows!!

Proving a negative is complex. I like to imagine a world where drag shows are quintessentially benign and I fail

I'm trying to imagine a world where you'll ever back up literally anything you are saying and failing so....

Please show me one child who was mortally confused by Dame Edna.
While I share your apparent belief that Samson is foisting fact-free nonsense, I'm not a fan of demanding evidence that (for all practical purposes) is impossible to deliver. It's not as if there are studies concerning children's responses to Dame Edna.

How is it a negative? You seem to be arguing that Drag shows lead to tran. That is a positive claim. You seem to believe this for some reason. Why escapes me.

I'm a straight guy. I generally don't like men acting effeminate. Which is common, but not limited to gay men. But I recognize something you don’t. That's my issue, not theirs.

People should have the right to live their lives as they choose. As long as it isn't harmful to others.

If men want to dress up as women and perform for others and people wish to view those performances, that is their choice. I see no harm in this. But maybe I'm wrong. Unless you can demonstrably prove that this causes harm I see no reason to ban it.

Can you? I seriously doubt it. As you haven't come close to offering an argument that should convince anyone. Even yourself.

Think about it.

I'd also want to know why it only now that it is a problem since it's been going on for thousands of years.

See, hurting people is negative and it's impossible to prove a negative. Therefore, it's impossible to prove people get hurt.

That's just logic.

Hypothetically something could have been a problem for thousands of years and only recognized as one now.

This isn't, but something else could be!

Yes, I agree.

People have thought religion isn’t harmful. But it is. I can demonstrate that by the way.

I'm not looking for a peer-reviewed double-blind placebo-controlled study. I'm just looking for any justification that children would be "mortally confused" by a dude in a frock.

"Daddy, why is that man wearing a dress?"
"Because it's a show and that's his costume."
"Can I have some chocolate?"

Exactly!

Children see on television thousands of acts of violence on TV and at movie theaters. Does it make them killers?

But seeing Dame Edna, Rue Paul, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemon, Robin Williams, Tom Hanks or Billy Crystal in drag is dangerous?

Drag Parade in NYC using some rather provocative chanting:

We're here, we're queer, we're coming for your children!"

When I first watched the clip on social media, I thought it was suspicious; several times the last verse was "we're not going shopping," and it seemed as if the coming for your children line was only chanted by someone nearby as the marchers reached the camera. However, NBC News' Out and Proud unit (yes they really have such a thing) assures us that it's a chant that's been used for many years:

The “coming for your children” chant has been used for years at Pride events, according to longtime march attendees and gay rights activists, who said it’s one of many provocative expressions used to regain control of slurs against LGBTQ people. And in this case, they said, right-wing activists are jumping on a single video to weaponize an out-of-context remark to further stigmatize the queer community.

Glad we got that cleared up, can't imagine how evil and narrow-minded those right-wing activists must be to not understand that it's okay, they've been chanting that for years.

It's exactly the same as when atheists talk about eating babies. It's taking a claim of the opposition and making a joke out of it.

Yeah, can't imagine that brilliant humor backfiring at all. And who the hell thinks atheists eat babies?

Yeah. Everyone knows what was really happening was that HRC was running a child sex trafficking ring out of the basement of Comet Ping Pong Pizza! It's common knowledge that a cabal of Satan-worshipping paedophiles, including HRC, Tom Hanks, and George Soros, kidnap children, murder them, and drink their blood.

For centuries, Christians believed that Jews stole Christian babies in order to drink their blood during rituals (Blood libel).

Reactionaries and bigots rarely get humour (or indeed humor).
