A Detroit woman has filed a lawsuit against restaurant chain Fishbone's after a frightening incident in which she was mistaken for a man and tossed out of a women's bathroom, reports TV station WXYZ.

Cortney Bogorad wears her hair cropped short and is cisgender, meaning she is not a trans woman.

She said after dinner, at 11 p.m. on January 23, she enterted the restroom at Fishbone's Rhythm City Cafe. She heard a voice yelling from outside -- apparently from a security guard -- that "whatever man is in the restroom needs to come out now." Bogorad said she ignored him because she did not realize she was the "man" the guard sought.

The people freaking out about trying to exclude trans people from bathrooms are causing harm to cis women, meanwhile the entire panic about excluding trans people has been shown to be entirely baseless. Crazy how reactionary policies blow back.

The confusion arises because of the new way.
Humans are very law conforming when they know exactly what laws are. Therefore if it is extremely rare for people to use the wrong bathroom, it will be a much higher bar before anyone challenges the butch lesbian.

Yes, and cis women are the collateral damage for an effort that seems to be entirely misguided. Roughing up butch lesbians in the name of protecting women. 10/10, no notes.
 
However silly Senator Cavanaugh looks and sounds in that clip, it doesn't tell us anything about whether LB 574 is a good or bad idea.
