Herschel Walker Says He’s a Model Dad. He Has a Secret Son.

I've already covered why I refuse to vote for any Dem, and why I feel that being mentally-ill is preferable to that condition. Nothing further to say on the matter, really.

Just curious... is there any current Republican office holder left who isn't a slithering coward?

"I can't defend my stance without invoking bigotry....but as I keep repeating, I am not a bigot."

Yes....but they'll only be in office through Jan. 2. They either choose not to run for office again or were voted out by their MAGA constituents as being RINOs.

Not quite true. Of course Vermont is an anomaly in the world, but we still have a Republican governor who sailed into victory in the same election that overwhelmingly elected a Democratic replacement for Leahy among other D victories, and a constitutional amendment for reproductive rights, which he supported and happily signed. Of course the MAGA folks hate him.

No you haven't. That's ********. "Covering it" would involve giving specific reasons, not regurgitating vague conservative dogma.

Do you want to know the real reason there are people who think as you've claimed to think? It's because for the past four decades the Republican leadership, with the help of power hungry Evangelical preachers, has been pandering to people who literally believe in demons, teaching them to conflate a radicalized version of the Republican party with their fundamentalist, intolerant religious superstitions. They've been indoctrinated to apply the same ignorant hatred that they've learned for Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists etcetera to politics. They've successfully turned the Republican party into a religious cult full of obedient sheep who think what they're told to think and hate what they're told to hate, and never ever think for themselves. That's why they can't actually offer any concrete examples of why just being a Democrat is morally worse than, say, holding a gun to a woman's head and threatening to murder her and members of her family - because there's no rational reason for such hatred. They're just conforming to the dogma that's been fed to them to make them vote the way their cult leaders want them to vote, like good little sheep.

Oh please, lol.

Suffice it to say, this isn't a thread for debating specific party issues and their societal impact. We have those aplenty.

He made a nonspecific admission of violence and mental illness, as best I can tell.
Reading comprehension, Warp. When asked specifically about the allegations made by his ex wife he responded that he was accountable. There's no weaseling out of this. The guy is dangerously unhinged.

But it doesn't matter either way, to me. Clearly many voters felt the same way.
You mean those same voters who literally believe in demonic possession? Those same voters who, based on an admittedly small sample, can't seem to offer any specific examples as to why Democrats are so cortoonishly evil that a mentally handicapped domestic abuser is preferable to any Democrat for a legislative office?

Yes, and people other than you actually offer concrete examples to support their positions on such issues.

Well said.

Yes, he is an exception. I was thinking more of Congressmembers than governors, but you are correct.

Sure he has. He finds them annoying, and according to him that's worse than someone embracing Nazi ideology.

This is not my interpretation or an exaggeration. Going by his specific words, doubled down even after being challenged on it.

Just when you thought Herschel Walker had been relegated to the dustbin of political history a new story pops up...

Daily Beast said:
When Herschel Walker emailed a representative for billionaire industrialist and longtime family friend Dennis Washington in March 2022, he seemed to be engaging in normal behavior for a political candidate: He was asking for money.
But unbeknownst to Washington and the billionaire’s staff, Walker’s request was far more out of the ordinary. It was something campaign finance experts are calling “unprecedented,” “stunning,” and “jaw-dropping.” Walker wasn’t just asking for donations to his campaign; he was soliciting hundreds of thousands of dollars for his own personal company—a company that he never disclosed on his financial statements...

According to the legal experts who spoke to The Daily Beast for this article, this scheme appears to not just be illegal—it appears to be unparalleled in its audacity and scope. The transactions raise questions about a slew of possible violations. In fact, these experts all said, the scheme was so brazen that it appears to defy explanation, ranking it among the most egregious campaign finance violations in modern history.

He's not the first grifter to use running for office as a way to bring in business. We had one nitwit do that all the way to the White House. Hell, there's no shortage of politicians of all stripes who use their office to funnel money to their own private interests or those of friends. Again see the previous occupant of the Oval Office.

But, Republicans these days don't even bother to learn what laws they need to get around to make this stuff happen. And its not just the candidates. Even their advisors and staff seem to be clueless about what's involve in running for and performing the duties of elected office. Campaign managers, legal counsel, comms teams, etc all seem to be lackeys, grifter, and\or internet trolls rather than serious professionals.

I still contend that winning is not the objective for most of these yahoos.
