Fox News knew they were lying about election

I thought they were all Capitol police tapes. Which would mean the government would own them. Just something else the Trump crowd probably won't return.

From March: "House Speaker Kevin McCarthy granted Carlson access to more than 40,000 hours of the Capitol security footage from January 6. CNN and other news organizations have also requested access to the security footage. McCarthy’s office said it is still working out the process to make the footage “more widely available” but did not comment further. The speaker said Tuesday that the footage would be released to all media organizations, but did not say when."

Seems like it's up to Kevin McCarthy, so that's great. :rolleyes:

Giving that footage to McCarthy is yet another example of his idiocy that backfired on him. Kind of like MTG.

This will put the GOP howler monkeys in a panic: where are they supposed to go now to do the job they were elected for: spewing stupid hateful lies on TV?

Not necessarily.

Like I pointed out before... Carlson was not the only one pushing falsehoods, and Dominion was willing to settle the lawsuit without fox having to openly admit lying. If they were so keen on addressing Fox's lies, why specifically target carlson only?

More likely... he was deemed replaceable, and they can find another pro-nazi commentator at a lower cost and with less baggage who can appeal to more advertisers than just pillow salesmen.

i don't think it was a part of the settlement. he was a central figure in a series of events that will end up costing Fox over a billion dollars and completely tarnished the brand in the process. i don't know that it needs to be more complicated than that.

i am curious though, since they were so flagrant in their communications about what essentially is a component of mild treason, if there is more to come with some of these other lawsuits that may be even more damaging they're trying to get ahead of.

The Russians are clearly not happy that the chief promoter of their propaganda and primary talking points parrot in the USA has been fired.

Freeze Peach!!!

Lavrov is Russia's Baghdad Bob.

From your article:

In his remarks to the press, Lavrov also claimed the European Union was increasingly becoming a militarized entity designed to contain Russia along with NATO.

Yeah, imagine resisting an unprovoked, military invasion with the objective of taking over an independent nation. I mean, it's not like the EU has any historical precedents to base their resistance on. Am I right?

LONDON — Prince William received a "very large sum of money" in 2020 in a settlement from Rupert Murdoch's British newspaper arm, according to court documents made public Tuesday.

The funds were kept quiet for years but came out now because of another lawsuit filed by William's younger brother, Prince Harry. He alleges employees of Murdoch newspapers hacked into royals' phones and unlawfully gathered information from them for two decades.

Harry's lawyer mentioned the unspecified payout while summarizing arguments for the younger prince's lawsuit. It is one of several lawsuits Harry and celebrities have filed against British newspapers.

A recap of this week:

Rupert Murdoch calls off his engagement;
Dominion lawsuit settles for $787.5 million;
Lachlan Murdoch withdraws his lawsuit against Crikey;
Prince Harry lawsuit.

What other bad luck can we find out about for this lovely family?

Here's something -

"Fox News has agreed to give voting technology company Smartmatic additional documents about Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch and other senior corporate executives. Smartmatic is suing the right-wing network for $2.7 billion over its airing of 2020 election lies.

"The agreement was announced Wednesday at a court hearing in Manhattan. New York Supreme Court Judge David Cohen scheduled the hearing after Smartmatic raised concerns about whether Fox was complying with its pretrial obligations to turn over relevant evidence."

Any news about the Smartmatic lawsuit is good news at this stage, since the last I'd heard, it won't go to trial till 2025.

I sincerely hope that either..

A. Smartmatic will go the whole hog and not settle the lawsuit, or

B. If they do settle, then one of the conditions would be that Faux News must broadcast a statement, five times each night during prime time, apologizing to their audience for knowingly lying about the 2022 election.

If I was a Murdoch I'd consider a hostile takeover - much cheaper than the likely settlement. ;)
