Not even that. Simply give it a more sane interpretation by linking the first clause to the second.
That would require reversing District of Columbia v. Heller, 2008 which explicitly unlinked them.

Might be a bit easier than repealing an amendment, but still not likely. Especially with the current court.

I note that the phrase "well-regulated" in the first clause apparently carries an older meaning that implies "well-organized and smoothly running." That interpretation can be applied by using regulations to ensure militias are indeed well-organized and smoothly running.

Also, "bear arms" can be more narrowly interpreted. The arms to which Americans have a right to bear could be narrowed to certain rifles and shotguns useful to said well-regulated militias. Or apply a 1791 interpretation to limit the arms to muskets and pitchforks any muzzle-loaded single-shot weapon. :p
That alone should be sufficient to end most of the current shooting sprees.

No, you don't need another amendment. You just need to repeal the existing one.

No, actually. For most of U.S. history, there has been no doubt that the authorities at the federal, state and local levels have the right to impose limitations on buying, selling, possessing and carrying firearms, particularly handguns. As recently as the '60s, the NRA itself supported such limits. All we need to do is return to the legal status that prevailed up until the early 1970s, before the NRA was taken over by radical extremists.

Tennessee GOP begins expulsion process for 3 Democrats, House session devolves into chaos

Yells rang out through the state Capitol as Tennessee House Republicans on Monday introduced resolutions to expel three Democrats for "disorderly behavior" after the trio led protest chants for gun reform on the floor of the chamber last week in the wake of the deadly Covenant School shooting.

On Thursday, the three House Democrats approached the podium between bills without being recognized to speak, a breach of chamber rules. With a bullhorn, Reps. Gloria Johnson of Knoxville, Justin Jones of Nashville and Justin Pearson of Memphis led protestors in the galleries in several chants calling for gun reform.

Amid the chaos, House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, called for the vote, and the resolution passed with overwhelming support from the Republican supermajority. All three resolutions passed in a party-line vote of 72 to 23. Democrats will have little power to block expulsions on Thursday.

Firearms are regulated in various ways. "Regulated" doesn't mean "infringed." Pretty simple.

Jesus but I despise gun fanatics. Always have. It's a universal emotion in gunsmithing families.

On the plus side for gun enthusiasts people don't need training or any of that crap to carry in florida now.

This is because guns are inherently safe unlike cars that are inherently dangerous.

Florida Man believes he knows all about guns from watching TV.

The rules for the well regulated militia of the Second Amendment are listed in the body of the Constitution.

They're pushing the same bull **** through here in South Carolina. Of course, all the sorts of places where you might expect to find state legislators are exempt. Can't have that in the halls of power. That's strictly for the little people.

I've come to the conclusion that increased gun violence is part of the firearms industry's plan. As gun violence becomes ever more common in daily life, they'll launch their "SEE? This is why you need a gun" campaign - from the safety of their gated communities, bulletproof limos and private jets, of course.

Ach it is only about 145 mass shootings this year so far, more than 1 a day, but who's counting eh?

I'm deeply saddened by your casual acceptance of gun violence and deaths. You'll be a happy bunny now that it's not slowing down.

Can you elaborate on this please?

From Article I, Section 8:

The Congress shall have Power ...

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

Article II, Section 2:
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States;
