Here's something of a side-note -

Russian technicians, present at a Slovak air base until last year, may have deliberately damaged Slovak MiG-29 jets that Bratislava recently supplied to Ukraine.

"The defects appeared only in those parts accessed by Russians,” Slovak Defense Minister said.

Russians likely making it harder for Russians in general to be employed in anything associated with national security in non-Russian countries in the future.
 
It seems the Russian assault on Ukraine's power grid reached its culmination point in early March, and the scale of attacks recently has significantly diminished. The fact that Ukraine came out of this not only keeping its own lights on, but actually emerging with a surplus to sell, is yet another indictment of Moscow's capacity to wage war.

Not necessarily, I believe it could be actually a very clever calculated move by Russia, the idea being that Russia won't attack Ukraine's power grid as long as Ukraine doesn't launch its announced counteroffensive, and more or less "accepts" Moscow's occupation of large territories.

If Ukraine decides to finally launch a counteroffensive, it is possible that missiles and Iranian drones will start raining down on Ukraine's energy infrastructure once again, in very large numbers because Russia has had a chance to stockpile them.

This tactic could have a strong deterrence effect on Ukraine.
 
Russia are utterly incompetent. You only think it could be "a very clever calculated move" is because you're a Vatnik.

While that may be within the realm of possibility, it's not particularly plausible. First, the whole strategy of attacking Ukraine's power grid was wildly flawed from the start. While it could be a valid strategy under very special circumstances, the circumstances in question were decisively not such. Second, if Russia responded to a counteroffensive with that tactic, it would still be utter stupidity, militarily. Further, even if Russia was doing that, the cost-benefit calculations would still fairly certainly greatly favor continuing the counteroffensive for Ukraine. Third, Russia has almost certainly blown through far, far too much in the way of missiles and drones already to make that a particularly meaningful threat. While they may have had a chance to stockpile for a few days or weeks, they've already blown through how many years of stockpile? Further, given the sanctions on parts needed for military production that were levied upon them because of their brazen military aggression, their ability to actually stockpile and replace what was used has been greatly curtailed.

It might even be accurate to say that, both militarily and for the sake of continuing outside support, Ukraine would prefer them to waste such resources on such terrible and terroristic tactics.

Fer shure! Russia's proven propensity for calculated cleverness now has Ukraine right where Russia wanted them for the past 14 months. The same calculated cleverness that now has NATO along their 1340 km border with Finland.
 
The same calculated cleverness that led to them still not having air superiority 14 months in.

During Desert Storm the alliance forces managed it after 1 day.

If it was a "calculated" move to persuade Ukraine not to counterattack, we would see two key differences: Firstly the offer would have to be something Ukraine wants more than driving Russia's army right out of Ukraine, and I think Zelensky's famous "without you" speech* illustrates how he feels about that. Secondly, if they imagined Zelensky could be persuaded by his people to change his mind, they would first have to make the offer publicly, and they have not.

So, no, it's neither clever nor calculated. It's just another failed strategy.

Bearing in mind that he is merely reflecting popular sentiment in this case, by the look of it. I doubt that Michel H will stop engaging in mental contortions to try to prop up his preferred narratives, though, either way, however much those contortions might just be flights of fancy.
 
Or maybe the Russians are not spending resources attacking Ukrainian infrastructure in order to save it for the alleged Ukrainian spring offensive?

Your propaganda efforts are failing. Russia does not believe there are any occupied territories. Russia believes those territories are actually part of Russia. Watch out for Putin's thugs and stay away from windows. He does not tolerate these types of mistakes.

You may have noticed the "sympathy" that Ukraine is getting from NATO. But then again, fear of Putin's thugs likely won't allow you to acknowledge that.

And how about that nice new 1340 km border that Russia now has with NATO that Russia so "cleverly calculated"? Care to put some positive Russian spin on that?

You keep suggesting that Crimea belongs to Russia, but that is a lie. All of the territory that Russia has attempted to steal will be returned to Ukraine eventually.

The fact Finland has now joined NATO is clearly a failure for Russia, but this was difficult to avoid after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The big earthquake in Turkey may have also played a role, because it made Erdogan weaker, and more dependent upon foreign aid.

And yet Russia's stated goal in invading Ukraine was to provide a buffer between NATO and their borders :eek:. Your confidence in their "clever calculations" seems rather misplaced. Ever think that if Russia does complete their invasion of Ukraine, and Ukraine becomes part of Russia as Putin claims it is, then they will have a common border with 6 more NATO countries.

Surely you are not suggesting that the earthquake was another "clever calculation" by Russia? Or maybe you actually are. No doubt there are some Putin worshippers so blind as to think this is within his capabilities.
 
I guess his stupid argument is that Turkey only agreed to Finland becoming a NATO member because Erdogan needs the foreign help after the earthquake, and without the earthquake would not have agreed.
