Because a recent sidetrack got vaporized (hope it rematerializes), I thought I'd show fringe lefty idiocy isnt immune to the ridicule it deserves, right alongside its conservative counterparts.

Unless someone can convince me either of these brain trusts are secretly GOP (Donnie's eclipse buffoonery doesn't really tip the scale)...

OK, you have a short video of some nutcases. Show that they are "left politics". Because nowhere in the video was that even mentioned let alone proven.

Btw, I have worked with some right-wing folks, VERY right-wing, and they were WAY nuttier and potentially more harmful than these guys.

Not to pile on, and I am genuinely fine with the premise, not every act must fall somewhere on the political spectrum. Even for people who identify with one political extreme or the other, not every one of their actions or beliefs must be political in nature.

For all we know, this person could be a libertarian and no one is going to tell him he can’t stare at the sun if he chooses to.
 
Not politically left. Actually left. Those guys use their left hands, not their right hands, when they do something no plant can ever do.

What's with this completely vitiated atmosphere we've created for ourselves? Someone says "left", and we imagine they're talking politics, when all they're talking about is which hand people use to do what experts assure us is perfectly healthy, and what most emphatically does not turn us blind ---- staring at the sun, I mean.

I’m left handed and I don’t stare at the sun. Clearly, the left hand of the intelligence scale is the smart end. It’s the right hand of the intelligence scale that stares at the sun.

And I know you’re going to claim that the jokers in that video are left handed, but they are staring at the sun. They are not true left handers.

Probably deserving of a separate, and deeper, discussion, in R&P maybe given the philosophical and theological implications of the question: but do all left-handed people use their left hands when, well, staring at the sun? And do only generally left handed people use their left hands when staring at the sun?

That's a cool newly minted idiom, right there: staring at the sun.


As for you, you personally: why do you hate the sun? (To bring the discussion back, somewhat, to the tone and tenor befitting the Politics forum.)

I've asked a large number of Trump supporters why they support him and have yet to hear anything other than bigoted/ sexist, selfish or ignorant responses.

Maybe there are supporters with good reasons. But I have yet to hear from any of those people.

I think it was sarcasm. Not sure. But the most racist, ignorant, and fascist responses are always exactly what federal representatives of republicans say in political speeches in the US Capitol building.

I am struck by how the a large portion of the new age movement has migrated into MAGA territory. It's a phenomenon that I've observed but have no explanation for.

Mike Gravel was a (sort of) leftish nutjob. Letist nutters exist, they're just not as common as right wing nutters in America, mostly because left wing people aren't as common as right wing ones in America. I suspect the proportion of lunatics on either end of the political spectrum is roughly equal.

ETA: Or rather I would until the US republican party decided to make conspiracy thinking and cryptofacism official policy.
