Drag Shows!!

I'm not sure how. Mocking something, drawing attention to how ridiculous it is, doesn't seem to be something that would make it stronger.

So to give it the correct answer.

Drag shows make fun of stereotypes.

Is it OK to make fun of stereotypes?

You really have not thought that question out. Why do you think all the shows featuring liberals in Blackface are getting disappeared? Because they were making fun of Black stereotypes.

You may not be alone in "that view", but the "some others" that disagree with your declarations vastly outnumber those who agree with you.

As always, another pronouncement of yours without a sherrick of evidence. EC posted links supporting her position. Where are yours?

Some women are offended by drag. Some aren't. No one here can say which is the greater in number so just stop trying to one up each other over something that you can't prove.

I don’t know if this is directed at me, but I am sick of people like wareyin continually making unsubstantiated pronouncements. Asking for evidence is what this forum has always been about.

It's directed at anyone and everyone who's engaging in it. There is no 'evidence' supporting either side in this fruitless debate. Unless, of course, you can find polls asking women "Are you offended by drag/drag queens?

I’m not saying there is. Take it up with wareyin who is saying this with great certainty.

Did I say you specifically did? As I said: "It's directed at anyone and everyone who's engaging in it."

Tennessee has just passed a very restrictive bill… Which would seem to ruin many a Halloween plan:

Tennessee takes lead in Republican effort to restrict drag shows | Reuters https://www.reuters.com/world/us/te...blican-effort-restrict-drag-shows-2023-02-23/

So nice to see our august legislators addressing the problems of the nation…

The GOP hysteria over drag shows is just more "anti-woke" garbage. They are not happy unless they are unhappy over something.

It might be fun to invent something especially stupid just for them to be upset over. I suggest a new "trend" of people converting their pets to Islam. Just their pets. Take some photos of kittens on a prayer rug, call into one those crazy talk radio shows ancient Boomers listen to, and I bet we could make it a thing within six weeks.

Perhaps a new thread: "Republican Outrage du Jour"

An Allahsatian:

A Shia-Tzu

I had an opportunity to talk, in person, with one of my loudest feminist friends. There is no way I could possibly do that entire conversation justice in a forum board post.

Her initial reaction, before I got into the specifics of the topic was that (1) drag shows are mocking beauty queen culture more than women, per se, and (2) drag can absolutely be misogynistic, but it depends on the intent behind it. We didn’t delve into the specifics of drag story hours, but the stated intent is not misogynistic and I haven’t seen anything that indicates otherwise.

As if how pigs have to suffer when they're Halal slaughtered wasn't bad enough! :(
But at least they don't dress them up to look like the opposite sex.

I spoke to some of my pig friends, they say they find pig drag to be boaring unless they really ham it up.
