Electric universe theories here.

I don't think so, because as far as I know the solar wind is neutral, which would mean equal amounts of positive and negative moving at the same speed, ergo no current
Tusenfem was wrong in the first paragraph, so....

Not a great start is it. :o

OH dear, Sol and his MHD fetish.

I write quasi here, full knowing that this might be misinterpreted, but on small scales there may be slight discrepancies.
tusenfem.

MHD is crap always has been always will be.

You mob need new math. Electrons are were it at baby!

So, you won’t answer or can’t?

Are there electric currents in the solar wind? Or do you have trouble thinking for yourself. :boggled:

Says the bloke with zero knowledge of any plasma physics! Who follows a cult that believe in scientifically impossible gibberish! The irony!

Can't you read? It would explain a lot. Yes, there can be. And what is the Debye length, and why is it relevant? What does your cult say the solar wind is? What did Alfven say it had to be? Is the solar wind a current? No, it isn't. Which contradicts what the klutz Scott says, doesn't it? So, who is right? Alfven, and ~ 60 years of in-situ measurements, or a clueless EE? Alfven says your electric sun woo is impossible. It is. Get over it.

At least Ian Tresman was willing to learn ...

But of course Sol88 is only here to rile us, and Sol knows that we have to correct all the fake news that is posted.
And so we get more and more extreme comments like "MHD is crap always has been always will be."
And you can see when Sol is getting really excited, then Sol's grammer is really goind down the drain: "Electrons are were it at baby!"
That is the point where Sol thinks "he gots you".

We will probably now get a rehash of the 2005 thread.

It is just the gish-gallop I predicted to draw attention away from his horrendous blooper re the dust findings of Ulysses! He sill can't explain how the detection of + charged dust is a point in favour of the impossible electric sun woo! And won't even try. We are supposed to forget it ever happened.

Electrons the same temperature in the solar wind, tusenfem?

Seems there not, ay.

So,
I guess you could look at it that way if you really want. The fact is that the temperature of the particles (electrons and ions) is so high that the stable orbit for the electron at 13.6 eV cannot be entered. The electrons just have too much energy and fly away. The plasma is a whole system, which is in equilibrium (in the restrframe of the plasma) and (quasi-)neutral. I write quasi here, full knowing that this might be misinterpreted, but on small scales there may be slight discrepancies.

No you didn’t.

I asked you. Are there electric currents in the solar wind, jd116?

Yes or no?

If you can’t answer that’s fine.

Learn to read, yes? If you can't, just admit it. Need I post it again?

Yes or no? Are there electric currents in the solar wind. Very simple straightforward answer.

You seem reluctant to answer for yourself.

Sorry, didn’t see your answer.

Thank you.

The title of this thread is "Electric universe theories here". It was started in 2009. No one has yet, in almost 14 years, provided an electric universe theory here. Requests to provide any such theory are met with resounding silence. All the (rather few) proponents of an electric universe have done is nibble around the edges of actual current scientific theories looking futilely for some sort of minor gotcha to stroke their own feeble egos.

Kudos to the actual scientists here who refuse to allow the inane ramblings of supposed electric universe proponents to go unchallenged. You keep me coming back to read actual science.

So just to clarify. Are there electric currents in the solar wind, jd116? Your answer, Yes, there can be.

Can be or are?

Are there electric currents in the solar wind, jd116?

A better answer would have been, yes there are.

Just can’t quite bring yourself to say it? Or are you still unsure?

WTF are you talking about? I answered your question. Stop gish galloping. Is the solar wind, in-toto, a current? Yes or no? Hint: the answer is no, as Alfven told you > 80 years ago. It can contain currents. As I said. And as Tusenfem said in the linked thread on Cosmoquest. That is not in question. I also added 'what is the Debye length, and why is it relevant?', to the answer.

Here is the idiot Scott claiming that the solar wind, in-toto, is a current that creates its own magnetic field;

So, who is right? Alfven or Scott?
