As an American, I call it definitely an oxymoron. I would also call those that try to use it in any other manner, polymorons.
 
rational wiki is not a crackpot site, though I think they show a definent bias in politics toward the left.

Odd. Reality consists of conservation of momentum (angular and linear), conservation of mass-energy, conservation of electric charge, etc. Seems fairly conservative to me. :D

Although, I suppose chaos theory, both classical and quantum, can be considered non-conservative.

But then, ALL these laws and theorems are liberally applied to the real world, so I just don't know. Must be some kind of cosmic karma that evens it all out. And we all lived happily ever after...

Reality also includes evolution, an earth that is billions of years old, and a universe that is even older. As well as human caused climate change. A great many conservatives dispute all those things.
