Yes, Twitter is hiring again.

In the comments on the above link, I found a link to the following story from somebody who worked at SpaceX

https://at.tumblr.com/numberonecatwinner/elon-wyd/13h0toz593k4

The tl;dr is that the entire culture at SpaceX was oriented to managing Elon; to manipulate him into the right decisions and to serve up a penis shaped cake on his birthday disguised as a rocket.

Anybody who thinks SpaceX will put us into space needs to read the Tumblr post. Having a whole company geared towards massaging the ego of a spoilt man-baby is the last thing you need.

Hey Warp. How do you feel about Musk's declaration that Tweets will get shadow-banned ?

Well, it isn't exactly a new thing..shadow banning. Let's see how the policy plays out as it matures under new leadership.

Interesting. I understand your not caring that his promise to form a "council" to handle and approve of banned-account reinstatement was broken; but the fact that his earlier claim that he would be ending this alleged practice of shadowbanning, a promise which was the supposed to be the flagship policy change under his new leadership, has become a lie does not impact your confidence in him in the least?

As I said, I am waiting to see the ultimate results. My feeling is that most of the negativity is from people who are anxious to bash Musk, anyway. At least if this thread and others I see on social media are any indication.

Ummmm..... not sure how to tell you this, but SpaceX DOES regularly travel to space. They have made multiple trips to the IIS (both with passengers and with just cargo). and regularly launch satellites for NASA, the military, and foreign customers.

Whatever the 'impact' that Musk has (be it good as a visionary, or bad because of whatever distractions he causes), SpaceX seems to be doing some pretty impressive work.

Musk has tweeted a poll on a complete amnesty for banned accounts other than those which have tweeted illegal content. Yes is well ahead.

The chaos and damage that Musk is doing is observable reality. "Feel" as hard as you want in the opposite direction, but I don't think reality will care.

Is there some reason you're unwilling to answer the question that I asked?

Is that what you took from the post? In my summary, I said the culture was oriented to mange him and to manipulate him not massage his ego. I think that is a fair summary. They've found a way to stop him from screwing things up.

When will it be the time of “the end result”?

Twitter launched in 2006 and evolved over the years.

Musk has had it for less than a month. I would give it at least a year to develop under him. By then I think things will have settled down and we will have a more solid picture of what the future holds.

I'm not going to die on a hill over the exact length of time, though. It really depends on the arc it takes as it evolves to whatever it is going to become.

What damage? Twitter appears to be working just fine so far.

He has already told his staff that the company might be bankrupt at this time next year due to crashing revenues and unmanageable debt. As the company is known to have been solvent with no such crises until Musk began his takeover, it would seem incontrovertible that Musk and his actions and policies have heavily damaged Twitter's commercial viability to the point of it being an actual existential threat.

Some people, frankly, just don't like the idea of a sucessful private space company, they want a government monopoly on space travel.
Now if the guy had said Space X will not get us to Mars soon he is right; I suspect Space X engineers in private laugh at some of Musk's statements about that.

Don't forget to click your heels together three times when say this.

None of that is anything new, nor anything NASA can do itself using its own resources. Get back to me when SpaceX gives us something that nobody else is able to do.

I love how he framed it where he can't be wrong too.

"Oh, a time frame? Nah, I got nothing. That way I can keep saying 'the arc' is still happening forever."

What a load of garbage.

Musk might be able to keep Twitter going, he might even make it more profitable than it is now. Anything is possible. Is it likely? Not in my opinion. Musk has absolutely no clue what he's doing and his panic tweets show exactly that. All he's doing right now is trying to keep the publics faith in him by sharing "coding pictures" and all of the pics with his new friends. It's campaigning really. The best he can hope for is the Musk nut huggers will keep the lights on long enough for him to not call this a complete failure.

What is massaging somebody's ego other than manipulating them. From that post way too many people are involved in brownnosing Musk and telling him he's the greatest ever, rather than just putting it to him that he knows sweet Fanny Adams about engineering and to get out of the way while actual engineers work.
