Merged Musk buys Twitter!/ Elon Musk puts Twitter deal on hold....

A belated thought, I get the feeling these entitled billionaires somehow think people work for *them* and thus are happy to do this, rather than working because they need the money and the job they have was the one they liked the most.

Especially in the current labor shortage market I'd be a no-brainer.

Me too, in a heartbeat. 3 months pay and the ability to get out before Twitter crashes and burns? Sign me up.

And me for 3.

There's no way I'd hang around. If needed I'd use that money to gtfo of California, or at least Silicone Valley, and find a better\different job. Then I'd roast Musk on twitter until he banned me because he's a fragile manbaby that can't handle any form of criticism.

People acting like Twitter crashing and burning would be a bad thing...as much as they complained and criticized it before Musk, lol.

This is a win, no matter the outcome.

I thought it was clear from my reply that I don't believe this is self dealing. SpaceX is running an advertising campaign for StarLink on social media in Australia and Spain. Are they supposed to not use Twitter as one of their channels just because their owner owns it?

SNIP

Twitter is an excellent ad-buy right now. I bet it's had more views from mDAUs in the last three weeks than for a long time. I think I've spent more time on Twitter since Musk bought it than in the previous five years.

Because it isn't a good buy right now as evidenced by all the advertisers fleeing it. It has a lot of views on what is likely a dead-cat bounce, but how many will it have when it stops working for lots of people?

Why do you assume that it will stop working? On a purely technical level, it doesn't seem like what Twitter is doing is difficult. How many people do you really need to keep the servers running?

One of our rightwinger sides with Musk against his employees. No surprise, since right wingers generally worship anybody who has money.

new followers

Has anyone else who is on twitter seen a massive increase in random followers in the last couple of days? I'm wondering if it is a coincidence or a consequence of Musk taking over.

That isn't a matter of taking sides, that's a matter of recognizing reality. Regardless of who you or I "side with", a bunch of tech companies (not just Twitter) are laying off workers right now. That's going to make the labor market for tech workers loose. That's a bad environment for newly unemployed workers to be trying to find new jobs in, and a lot of Twitter employees are going to lose their jobs. No matter how you may feel about it, these are statements of fact. Do you dispute any of them? Or can you only view things through the lens of "sides"?

Hell, if you're actually on the side of the workers, isn't recognizing the problem they're facing kind of important? Or does your concern for them run no deeper than sticking it to Elon?

Did you miss his deletion of 'bloat' services making it impossible for some power users to sign in?

Musk doesn't know what he's doing, and more than that, he's driving out everyone who does and in a way that targets the people who know best.

Quite a few in my experience.
