"I used to think that Pat Robertson was cunning, that he knew how to manipulate the naïve into his way of thinking. No longer. Recent blunders prove that he’s just plain ignorant, vengeful, and stupid. He’s not only a national disgrace, he’s an affront to the entire rest of the world, a blemish on our species. "- from this week's commentary.

Don't beat about the bush, JR, tell us what you really think.

Don't forget, "Hey,Robertson, shut the hell up. You embarass everyone."

I love Randi.

The hard core believers yes. But do not worry about them. The major target are the believers who are on or near the border of belief. These are more numerous and give him most of what Pat needs (money, publicity, numbers).

When Pat makes a mistake that would make a few believers do more research into the facts or at least get them thinking about it. Then eventually they will find things that they accept as true that are not compatible with a belief in Pat, so they leave. Each time Pat makes a mistake more believers leave.

How long before Pat is laughed out of relevance?

Too long, I'm afraid. It doesn't take a critical thinker to see that he's full of *****, but it does take a thinker. Unfortunately there are almost none of these in his flock.

My opinion (contains F-bombs)

By the way, I'll forgive Randi for stealing my line. :)

Yeppers.

Too right.

I've almost begun to wonder if there isn't a script somewhere for the right-wing response/media spinners out there that actually contains an item like:

#4. "Pat Robertson gets on boob tube and says something stupid, to keep voters from noticing that entire US government policy on 'X' is stupid."

Arrgh.

Nah, that's what Ann Coulter is for.

"Hey Robertson, do me a favor: STAY OFF OF MY SIDE!!"

So last night at about 2a.m.(the desperate hour, mind you), I turned on my television to the 700Club for a laugh. I was appalled at what I found. It was a story about a lady that lost her husband and had to support a child. She quickly went into debt by trying to continue a lifestyle she could no longer afford. After she owed a cool 5 grand, her friend told her about the good reverend and she magically happened to tune in while he was giving a lesson on sending him money(what are the chances of that). He of course, explained that all this money will come back and god would solve all their problems and all that sparkly B.S. Then, the story continued in on how her life and yours(!) can improve by giving them money. I could stand no more. I became disgusted. I've read Mr. Randi's book, the Faith Healers, and this is not any kind of new story. But the audacity! This close encounter has only served to solidify my resolve. Something has to be done about these people.

If they have made specific promises regarding the money sent in and have not delivered, can't they be sued under some sort of consumer protection or trade practices legislation?

If they can't (or won't) do anything against Robertson for his extremely dubious business dealings in West Africa, they won't go after him for anything. My theory is that he has blackmail material on influential politicians. Or, of course, he's giving them a cut of the profits. Gold mines tend to be, well, gold mines.

Nope, Pat would just say, hey its God who decided not to come through, and probably because the person didn't have enough faith!

Hey leave Pat alone! He probably turns people into agnostics even faster than actually reading the buybull would.

I still get a chuckle when his big mouth lead to him getting tossed out of Israel in a business sense. Nice going, bonehead.

And we forgot one thing about him: he's damn ugly, the mutant child of Bigfoot and Alfred E. Neuman.

Here's a suggestion for those of you in the United States of Atheists:

Start a campaign of support for Pat - you know, banners announcing "Atheist for PAT!", "PAT all Atheists love you!" and so on....

Mind you, I see the flaw - Pat and his followers probably believe, as does Baldrick in Black Adder, that irony is like goldy and bronzy, only made of iron.

;)

I can do it. But the evil side of me rather wishes to devise some plan to legally change his name to Dildo von Satanberg the Dildo Master of Douchebaggia.

And to think what I said above is only half as childish as Pat is right now. ;)
