I remind myself that there are about 1/2 dozen unofficial published sequels to HG Wells’ War of the Worlds that almost no-one remembers as they are little more than fanfic.

"War of the Worlds: Global Dispatches" was pretty good though, but it didn't try to be a sequel. It's an anthology of short stories depicting the experiences of various famous people around the world during the invasion.

Seriously, what does Cruz expect? He knows Trump is a racist con-artist. It was obvious way back in 2016, yet Cruz still stood by Trump. There were 2 impeachments where Cruz showed he approved of blackmailing foreign countries and trying to overthrown American democracies were acceptable. He and his fellow republicans had multiple opportunities to get rid of Trump but they did nothing. Now they are dealing with the fallout of allowing a con-artist to go unchecked for so long.

It reminds me of what I've read about Richard Daley. Daley and his sycophants liked to brag about the "Daley machine" and how Illinois Democrats should support him so "The Machine" could keep them elected.

During the Houston Astros World Series victory parade in Houston today the crowd was booing Sen. Ted Cruz as he rode past in the open back of a Humvee. Then a can of White Claw Hard Seltzer was thrown at Cruz, hitting him in the chest. Cruz was not hurt and Houston police have a suspect in custody.
