The LED headlamp for my bike can shine a solid light on to the house 100 feet away. It cost less than 20 bucks. Lots of folks will go outside at the outset of a power outage to look for a cause. All my neighbors do. What else to do when the tv and internet go down?
That would light up a walkway without lighting up tree tops.

I have even measured the voltage reaching our home and can state it's nearly always 100 to 105 VAC. If it dips too low very long the refrigerator starts making an odd noise. We unplug it to not ruin it.
