The Russian Invasion of Ukraine Part 4

If Putin is crazy enough to buy into the "New CHronology" crap (the theory that all civilization originated in Russia, and Greece,Rome and the Middle ages are hoaxes) then we are deeper kimchee then I though.

I wonder how they explain Saint Cyril and the Cyrillic alphabet, then. Did Medved Medvedev visit the Etruscans and teach them their phonemes, in between honey binges?

While we are at Wunderwaffen again...

Russian experts found MLRS missiles from the American MLRS HIMARS

Three rockets were found at the site of the shelling in Krasny Luch. They did not explode and therefore experts can fully examine the warheads and hull fragments. All this ammunition was produced in 2019.

In total, 6 such missiles were fired at the city, which clearly indicates the efficiency of one of the latest American MLRS - was 50%.

The post is accompanied by two photos of the unexploded crap.

Hear are the details on Formenko's New Chronology. Read it and let you head spin.....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_chronology_(Fomenko)#:~:text=The%20new%20chronology%20is%20a%20pseudohistorical%20conspiracy%20theory,Middle%20Ages%2C%20more%20than%20a%20thousand%20years%20later.

Of course the main force behind this POS theory is that Holy Mother Russia is the source of all Civliization....

...
I read elsewhere that ammunition for the Gepards is being supplied by an anonymous third country, which solves that problem. ...

The Germans found a manufacturer in Norway to produce new ammunition for the Gepards' caliber. This may be in addition to the 3rd country you mention.

These unexploded rockets look so small on these two photos ... (compared with the one which can be seen on the first picture of the wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M142_HIMARS).

The name of the Telegram channel you quote is "TheEternalUkrainian2". Is this supposed to be a person with Russian sympathies?

I doubt three Gepards will make much difference in the long, but the real "wunderwaffe" here is the West's ability to pull older equipment out of storage, refurb it, and get it into action while the conflict is still ongoing. I wonder how many Shilkas the Russians have un-assed in the same time period.

There's that unforgettable scene from 2014 where they had a war monument in the Donbass with an actual WWII-era tank. They took it of its socket and made it run again to defend against the approaching Kiev regime troops. Must be somewhere linked (by me) in the original thread, but I don't feel like searching for it. Likely it has been deleted from YouTube long ago anyway.

...
Maybe the ammo is coming from Brazil : P

This is actually possible:
Brazil happens to be one of the last three current operators of Gepards in the world (the others are Romania and Jordan).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flakpanzer_Gepard#Current_operators
(Besides Ukraine, Qatar is about to get some, to guard against terrorist drone attacks during the football world cup later this year! )

The Gepard can (theoretically) shoot 1,100 rounds of main ammo (35 mm) per minute, but holds only 640! So it can deplete itself of ammo in under 40 seconds :D In practice howerver, it would probably shoot bursts of something like 15 or 20 rounds at a target, then evaluate success, perhaps relocate, before shooting more.

That does appear to be actual unexploded warheads again. Not really an uncommon thing. Any easy way for that to happen is for a previous round to explode and damage an incoming round right behind it.

Guess what the Russians will learn from them? Not much. Russian already know how to make things go boom. What makes the MLRS a good weapon is the range and accuracy. The kaboom part is nothing special.

As you can see in the printed text on the first picture, that is a GMLRS M31 missile. You can buy them here from the manufacturer. ;)

The channel actually calls itself in Telegram "Anti-Ukrainian Coalition ZOV (Winter is coming)" at the moment. I'm relatively new to it and don't know who runs it, but it is very active with relevant content.

Very good, if somewhat disturbing, article from Fox News:

Putin's fascination with fake history and symbolism may go deeper than we know

It is not just Ukraine-erasing and a violent charge to wipe a brother country, or at least parts of it, off the map. The mission and mindset go much further, according to preeminent Kyiv-born, Russian-educated author and literary translator, Elena Kostioukovitch.

In a recent essay called "What’s Going on In Putin’s Mind," she says there is a toxic fascination in Russia, starting at the very top, with alternative histories of the entire world, theories which paint Russians as the real masters of the universe and ancient civilizations like Greece and Rome as mere inventions of phony scholars. Fake history, essentially, trumping even fake news.

This world view is largely based on volumes of something called "The New Chronology," which is the brainchild mainly of two Russian authors, an academic and a mathematician respectively-- Anatoly Fomenko and Gleb Nosovsky. One of the key premises is that dark forces tampered with all the history books in libraries across the globe at a certain point in time, wiping out or changing real versions of events and resetting dates.

According to Kostioukovitch, it is one of the many mystical, fantastical theories Russian President Vladimir Putin and his inner circle are peddling, and they have managed to sweep not insignificant parts of the population along with them, manipulating masses towards the conclusion that it is high time to make amends—not just for losing the Cold War-but for long-standing injustice against Russians. For the Kremlin, this works very well for the moment.

From the same channel, two posts later:

Quick analysis: Russian military specialist recovered unexploded HIMARS shells & fragments.

What happens next: Russian military specialists will order a full size replica of the American missiles to be made. The replica will then be shipped to Russia’s central military district area where air Defense specialists are based who dial in scans of mock-ups of foreign missiles. Russia has previously aired footage which showed a warehouse where Russia has a “gallery” if you will, of US, British and other missiles including American hypersonic missiles from the secretive HARPA program which the U.S. is struggling so hard to develop. Russia already had full size replicas of their missiles

These missiles are than hung onto a specialized crane & suspended mid air in a setting surrounded by lasers & scanning tools. These tech tools then scan the missile from 360 degrees & upload the dimensions to Russian radar networks. This data is then transmitted to Russian military & ensures the detection by Russian Air Defences.

From the same channel, two posts later:

None of which will tell them anything they don't already know. These are not some magic new explosive. What make the MLRS a useful weapon is the range and accuracy. Warheads don't make either of those things happen.

Because those are not the rockets. Just the warheads. they do appear to be the real thing or something close to it.

Of course they are. I bet the trajectories of a quite a few satellites have been swung across Ukraine over the last few months.
Kyiv will be getting a constant stream of Satellite images and sigint from GCHQ.
Menwith Hill will have all it's resources turned that way.

A lot of information can be purchased from commercial satellites run by Maxar and a few other companies.

The fun part is they won't sell to just anybody. The US govrenment purchased partial ownership in the Maxar just in case a situation like the current one came up. With US govrenment permission, Ukraine can buy information. But Russian cannot.

This seems plausible indeed (right size).

I am not personally interested in buying missiles, though.

I believe Ukraine should cede the territories which don't want to be Ukrainian to Russia in order to end this conflict quickly.

I even replied to Mrs. Zelenska on Twitter recently about this:
